Movie Review: That Awkward Moment

Movie title: That Awkward Moment
Ratings: 6.5/10
Comments: Could be better. What a shame. Pretty interesting script with funny actors. I thought they tried SO HARD to make it funny. HOWEVER, it wasnt directed to be as funny as it should be. Mainly because of poor dialogue. The movie title wasnt apt in the first place. Not entirely boring. Some touching scenes here and there. Ok to catch it if you have simply nothing better to do. By the way, what happen to Zac Efron?? Dearie and I looked at each other and was slightly taken aback by how different he looked from his previously "17 again". He was so cute and boyish then.

"His face..more chubby now", I said. Lol. Still a nice face lah.

선미(Sunmi)_보름달(Full Moon)_M/V

Wow I really like this MV, it simply spells new age! Shot so beautifully with creative dance moves atop a sofa. Provocative with a tinge of mystery and sinisterness. Lovely clothes. Nice song too.

The Chambers at Far East Square

Sorry for the long absence. I'm IMPOSSIBLY BUSY! This will be a quick entry!

Had a treat from my lovely colleagues in view of their promotions and celebrations of milestone events. And the food were really good! I ate till my tummy felt like exploding. Lol. I've never been to Chambers and initially I thought they serve those middle-east or turkish cuisine? But as more dishes were served, I was quite confused. Ahh...Fusion. Classy word for chup-ba-lang, a.k.a Rojak.

Kebab. Very fragrant with a hint of spice.

Wedges, nicely fried

Generally I dont like fried chicken of such nasi-brani style because usually the meat will be tough. But surprisingly no, the skin is sooooo crispy and the meat is tender and juicy. Weirdly, my colleagues said theirs were abit tough. I guess I was lucky maybe.

This is the clear winner, hands down. Everybody love this dish and some of us had more than 2 servings. The salmon was presumed to be grilled with just butter and some salt but the texture and flavour was just thumbs up without being overly oily or dry.

Love this too!! Just the presentation makes me salivate. I like it that although it's so obviously fried, it doesnt appear oily at all. Right amount of mustard. And the fries are cripsy too. Yums!

The only con I may have with the place is that it's fully alfresco, though with no sun. Ang mos probably love it though. Thank god that day was pretty windy so the atmosphere was great with us big groups chatting. =) Oh I saw a pool table too, probably not free though. =P I believe at night it will be more of a drinking place than a lunch place.

Did I mention I've changed a new handphone?? Hee! Can you even believe all the above pictures are RAW and UNEDITED pictures taken by my handphone? 100% ZERO Edit. Oh life is a breeze............saves me the trouble of adjusting for brightness, contrast and sharpness. The pictures are as true to life as it gets. =) Saves me much time in blogging.

Canadian Pizza Delivery

Wow, I was really impressed with their food. They came really piping hot! Not just warm. I didnt take note of the time as I was doing my stuff but it should be around 1 hour as promised. Minimum order for me is S$25 so I ordered the following side dishes. Not a fan of pizza because I dont like to spend on flour. HAHA.

Fat calamaris came hot and CRISPY. Nice and not chewy too.
Really wasnt expecting this from a delivery.

Clockwise: Moroccan Beef Meatballs/Baked Macaroni with basil sausages/Shepherd beef pie

The meatballs were really fantastic. Wonderful flavours, juicy tomatoe based with a robust aroma of spice(Moroccan spice I suppose) and just a bit spicy.

The macaroni were slightly over-cooked at the top and were slightly hard and the bottom ones were kinda soggy. But I have to say I love the flavours and the cream base was well-balanced as I dont like too creamy ones which might be jelat, nor was the sauce too watery. Dont really like the sausages though, hard. Though it looks dry in the picture, inside was really juicy with the sauce.

Shepherd pie, not nice. Too dry. Do not order.

I just love the flavours of the meat balls and macaroni.

I was alittle shocked to realize no condiments and utensils are provided though.

Total summed up to S$28+, inclusive of S$3 delivery charge.

Will order again. =)

Congratulations to Boo & CY - Wedding dinner at Fairmont on a Sunday

It's Boo's and CY's big day at Fairmont! Couldnt snap a proper pic of them as our table is far from the aisle. So got it from his FB. =P So handsome and pretty righttttt??? Hee!

My heartiest congratulations to the lovely couple! Boo and CY have been together for 12 years before tying the knot and it always amazes me because I know it's totally not easy to be boyfriend and girlfriend for more than 10 years without tying matrimony. And Boo is such a humble person despite his success in his work. I really appreciate all the kind words and help he has given me. =) So I'm really very happy now that he has entered another life stage, which is, to be a husband!!

It's quite the most sumptuous banquet dinner I've ever eaten because almost every dish is seafood!! I, of course dont mind for I love seafood!

Just looking at the pictures make me drool. =D~~~
I missed pictures of some dishes but I really enjoyed all the dishes. Usually I'll skip the 2nd last dish, which is usually noodles or rice but I have to mention the "Fragrant rice with red dates and diced abalone" is really yummy. It tastes like the chinese's claypot rice and is so fragrant.
The whole dinner is simply wonderful. We're almost so sure the couple must have topped up some money, how else can the menu be so sumptuous?

Thanks for having us and here's wishing both of you an even more spectacular marriage following your grand wedding. =D

Vickki says Hi and happy chinese new year!!!

So happy that Vickki's skin problem improved alot after my sis-in-law taught me a home remedy.
She smells nice now. Hee! Finally she stopped her scratching. I'm so so glad. But it's really alot of work as the home remedy I need to DIY. It's really alot of work. But it's worth it seeing her not bothered by her skin problems. =D Hope she stays this way. Love her~

(FYI, I brought her to see 5 different doctors in 3 different clinics and had spent thousands, but the problem always come back)

Review: Staycation at Bay Hotel with Groupon

So I came across this amazing deal on Groupon that a night's stay at Bay Hotel in their DELUXE room(23-26 sqm) costs only S$158 - S$188 or something around beginning of January. And I thought....oh ya...Jan 20th(or 21st I was wondering. HAHA) is our pa-tor(dating) anniversary. It was a weekday, thus the price is S$158 only. I thought we can have a simple and inexpensive staycation to have a break from our hectic lifestyle. God knows what a busy and tantamount Dec and Jan we had..... I'm a thrifty part-time housewife and generally I dont really splurge. There are simply too many dates to celebrate if you'll reallyyyy into celebrations. However, I feel couples, despite 老夫老妻 liao, should still try to keep things fresh and interesting once in a while. =) And counting with my fingers....oh....it's like our 7th year since the day we pa-tor. Or so I thought....I think it's year 2007 when we started.

Actually it's most funny. I have a colleague hor, who is extremely good in memory and with dates. Virgo girl. No wonder. You know I'm so bad with dates lor, I do remember important dates fairly well, for the month and day, but I have a problem remembering which year all the time. Even dearie dont remember very well too. And everytime when we were chatting among colleagues and the subject of how long have we been together, or how long since we ROM......often tossed us into a blur bout of confusion. But this cute colleague of mine, can always answer for us within seconds.

There was once when we were asked WHERE and WHEN we had our wedding banquet dinner...and I was like...."Ahhh....we had it at....*thinking*...Fairmont...but year ah...erm.....I think it's....2008 huh....*looking to hubby for affirmation, who looked back at me with a BLANK look*...and there my colleague answered with confidence, "No, your banquet was in 2009. I remembered very clearly. The same year XXX had his banquet too mah." And yeahhhhh, I went "Ahhhh yaya....we pa-tor in 2007....ROM in 2008....then banquet in 2009. Yaya you are right!" LOL

Amazing. If you forgot any details about anything, yes, just go for your female virgo friends. They remember (almost) everything!

Opps, without further ado, here are some pictures which I taken of the room.

Earth tones everywhere. I like...but will prefer a slightly lighter shade.

Not much of a view and the caterpillar cushions near the windows are not comfy at all; they're so hard. More for you to put your stuff than to sit. There's a small writing table at the corner which is not suitable for seating too because there is no room for your legs! Unless you flip your legs 90degrees to the sides. How this design got approved siah?

As you can see, the rooms are no way considered big but told ya, I love cozy rooms. Fortunately it doesnt seem cramped or oppressive. From the reception to the lift and eventually to the room, the humble decor simply prepare you NOT to expect luxury so I was kinda glad that the room is actually not bad. The corridor was simply....ah...dampening; I've never been to Hotel 81 etc but I think it should be something like that too; just simple and humble. So thank god the room is actually not bad!

I love the queen bed because it was super fluffy and comfy; it's as good as any 4 or 5 star hotels. And they have a real big TV, much bigger than the one at Park Regis or some other hotels, which I feel is kinda too small in regards to the distance from the bed. Not many channels but HBO is there to save the world. Decor itself, it's really minimalistic. Pretty much prefer Park Regis's deco anytime.

A really tiny basin and washing with the one and only mirror in the room which can really pose a problem when for e.g, you need to makeup while he wash up at the basin. Not to mention, the distance from the mirror is strictly a no-no for makeup. It also means you have to stand longer. Apart from the default shower and brush teeth/wash face etc, you'll stand while using the hairdryer to dry your hair(as plug is nearby) plus finish your makeup. Old hag like me does find it tiring on the legs. Just drying my hair need 15minutes, mind you, hairlength was near my waist at that time.

The rain shower was okie, with a flexible neck. You can tilt it if you're tall enough to touch it. Shower room neither big nor small, let's just say 2 person still can bathe together inside la. =P The other toilet cubicle was kinda arrrghhhhh..........it was just next to the room door so please either slide the toilet door closed which can feel oppressive......or lock the room door. Else who knows a room service personnel can just stride in and see you doing your business.

Never say never. A room service boy did once entered my room while I was showering in the bathtub which was a distance away from the bathroom door. I remembered I was alone at that time but I didnt lock the bathroom door ; it was ajar. And the bathroom was very near the room door. I was so handdicapped with so much suds all over my face and body but I heard sounds. And I simply shouted, "Get out!!" I heard a very apologetic "Sorry" before I heard the door closed. "Phew"

Shampoo & Conditioner? Shit, it means NO CONDITIONER.
However, I love them both to bits! The smell and texture is very much like the Chopard toiletries we had at Klapson's hotel, very masculine and moisturizing. Smells like Calvin Klein's Eternity fragrance I think. But I think Chopard's is more moisturizing, love.

Actually the next morning then I realized they have another set of toiletries in travel sizes where the conditioner is available. Also very nice scent, more of citrus. So maybe you can request too.

All complimentary! So happy to see my San Miguel beer!

Complimentary sweets because it's our 7th anniversary. Thank you.

He was sick. So was I. Le sigh...basically we just nua in the hotel with blankets up our chin. Still a very enjoyable night though. =)

Medicine before his meal. Haha.
We did went out for a simple dinner. It's like a 5-10minutes walk to Vivo only. Have to mention the walk wasnt entirely safe, in my opinion because I'm a super kia-si Singaporean.
Canto Paradise was it? Dont remember, not worth remembering. My seafood chinese ramen lacked a promised scallop and for once, dearie actually noticed and pointed it out. I got a giant scallop then. Lol. But still, I dont feel the standard of the dinner justify the price.

The Room Menu pricing was surprising very friendly as compared to most hotels(I think). Ordered a sandwich and it was so bland and dry. FAIL. However, the apple strudel is very nice. BUT, we were served with a scoop of ice-cream which was half melting. Sigh......

Breakfast table

Complimentary breakfast. A mix of more misses than hits. Oh well...at least there is smoked salmon. No omelette station, very sad, only mushy scrambled eggs...yucks....

Porridge is bland and...blank...cant even taste any fish when it's supposed to be fish porridge.

Didnt take picture of the pool but it was a decent small rectangular pool.

VERDICT:
For the price I paid, of course it's definitely worth it! How and where else can you get a room this price in the central within walking distance to a giant complex where you have so many shops with a cinema! Awesome bed and TV, nice toiletries and rain shower. Complimentary carpark too.

On the website without any voucher deals or promotions, it may costs S$226 and above for this DELUXE room. I say it's still worth it because the hotel is relatively new. And the most important factor is it's location. It's so near Vivo, you can do your shopping there or go harbourfront to take a cable car ride into Sentosa. It's also very near St James so if somehow you get knocked out and cant drive, you can just book a night there. Their STANDARD room is smaller at around 15 sqm and costs around S$200 or above. I think it's great if you just want to crash somewhere.

However, for dearie and me, when our sole purpose for staycation is to NUA in the hotel room instead of spending time outside shopping or clubbing, we will most probably be willing to top up more for a nicer hotel with more pleasing deco, which can up the "luxury" staycation "feel" and "chemistry", if you get what I mean. =) Not somewhere to impress a new girlfriend or to rekindle lost spark. It's somewhere where you can have a nice sleep, enjoy convenience and efficiency. =)

Movie Review: From Vegas to Macau & OOTD

Movie: From Vegas to Macau
Ratings: 8/10
Comments: It's so nice to see Chow after so many years!! Oh how I miss him! He's still sauve and charming despite all those added wrinkles. I like Nic too but in this show, he was clearly out-shadowed. His role is simply too boring. Still a nice show afterall, pretty funny.

OOTD

Denim overalls from Bangkok Shibuya, only S$6 (150baht). Love the textured denim material.
Most overalls arent flattering, especially at the waistline, this cutting is considered good already although I dont look my slimmest. Pretty good quality. Cant be tried on so thank god I asked the lady for advice on the size. =)

Random shopping - Gold Juicy Couture Zipped Wallet in Saffiano Leather. & OOTD

Bought this Juicy Couture wallet online from Ebay. =D And to be honest, I've been searching for a gold wallet for the longest time!! Just didnt see a nice one! Hmm....I heard some sayings about a gold wallet as well as a zipped-up wallet is good for wallet fengshui! So anyway, initially I only came across this design at Groupon where they're selling at S$175. Being a fussy shopper, I checked out online and after doing my sums, I got this from an international Ebay seller. After shipping and everything, this wallet costs around S$150. Yes I saved S$25. It would probably be even cheaper in the States...but what to do....everything is expensive in Singapore so we just have to pay for the shipping. It's still a bet because I've never seen this design in real life, was kinda worried that the gold tone wont turn out nice. However, my worries were unnecessary. =)

It's beautifulllllllllllll~~~~~~ Pics taken with my Note 2 and I didnt bother to edit them at all because they are so true to real life. The gold is gorgeous. The quality is pretty good too! I say, better than the usual Coach and Kate spade wallets(no offence). By the way, it's my first Juicy Couture buy.

Yessssssssssss!! Pink exterior with prints of a crown. So cute righttttt~!~

So far, I love this wallet. It was relatively lighter as compared to my ex-wallet, a Prada Bow Wallet in Saffiano leather.

Initially I was actually kinda worried that a Juicy Couture wallet with a price of S$150 will be compromised with poorer quality, since I'm kinda used to very durable and quality wallets(I love my LV damier canvas long wallet too). But I was thinking, this Juicy Couture wallet is also made from Saffiano leather(not fully though), which is the same as the Prada. And I've been lemming for a nice GOLD wallet for the longest time so I just give it a shot.

And guess what, although I cant comment about the durability for now since I've just started using it not long ago, but it's exterior leather feels like it's of good quality and it's gold colour looks posh instead of cheapo. It's zips are super super smooth, UNLIKE the zipper for my coin compartment for the Prada wallet. I probably cant fault the bow design of the ex-Prada wallet since initially I thought it was cute....but now I really prefer a wallet which is generally flat and easy to organize in the handbag, without any fear of crushing the protruded "bow".

But it has much fewer card slots. I think actually my cards can fit 2 long wallets. Zzzz...really...all cards in 1 wallet will simply make it look bulky and ugly. I really dont know what to do either. Maybe I will just try linking some of my credit cards with the savings account to double as an ATM card. Just like how I linked my FRANK card.

I love this current wallet now. Hee! Dearie was more than happy for buy it for me because it's much cheaper than most other stuff I like. Dont count on it my darling. :P

****************************************************************************

Bought this watch holder from Groupon at S$24.90. A very good deal! They usually cost over S$50 in shops. And I was extremely satisfied with the quality! Sorry the deal had already been sold out, you can follow my FACEBOOK because usually I share great deals over there on a more prompt and impromptu basis rather than blogging on a lagging pace. Hahaha.

I have more than 6 watches actually but the box of 10 is very squarish and difficult to keep on my dressing table. So I bought this which holds 6. It's enough anyway, to hold my most worn watches on a daily basis. It's generally very easy to store the watches as well as whip it out daily to wear, although my bangle watches are like "floating" over the cushion, but it does fit well inside the box. Forgot to take a pic with the lid closed, but there is ample space so my watches doesnt touch the lid at all. It looks nice. =) Now my watches are more organized on my dressing table. It also looks neater and saves more space as I dont have to keep a few different designs of bulky watch boxes!

OOTD

2 of my favorite buys some time back.

On the left is a dress I bought from Bangkok Platinum Mall 1st storey at S$8. It's like a new kind of stiff but stretchable texture/material. It's kinda rough to the touch but still okie for my skin. It gives the same slimming effect as bandage dresses in a less aggressive way, also at a friendlier price tag. I was simply amazed at how much slimmer I look. I bought a black/white striped high-waist-ed flair skirt of the same material before at Bugis for $12 too, it's super flattering as it made my waist look smaller.

The right is simply a off shoulder gold-studded thinly-knit top(S$25) and denim shorts(S$22) bought from Bugis Village Level 3(new wing). I love off shoulder tops because they instantly made you look slimmer when you have a "bigger" upper body than your lower body. It exudes a little sexiness without being overboard. I love shorts anytime. =)

FOTD

I've been wearing this coloured contact lens which is supposed to be grey but kinda looked blueish grey with a rim of light brown. Loving the colour and I came up with an eyeshadow combi of L'oreal Infalliable colour in Sassy Marshmallow and contouring the outer corners with Gunmetal in Urban Decay Naked 1 palette(the last colour on the right) to match it. Ahh...in a rush, forgot to brush my lower eyelashes with mascara. My bad. Pic was taken after I reached home so the colours kinda not as fresh.

Got these pictures off the internet
Pic credits: makeupbyjerilyn.com

Sassy marshmallow is a great colour to use on the inner corners and under eyes for that pop of bright colour. Many raved L'oreal Infalliable colours for their pigmentation and lasting power. Maybe they're not bad. But when paired together with the NAKED palette, they're no match at all. The colour payoff immediately over power over L'oreal Infalliable. So use just a littleeeeee eyeshadow from NAKED on the outer corners to contour will do.

Happy CNY 2014~!!~~!

Hey guys! Here's wishing all of you a very prosperous and happy chinese new year with great health and lots of wealth!! Huat ahhh!!!!
