BakerzIn - The Moon Rabbits Mooncake Collection - Heavenly Collection(Snowskin + truffles)

It's Miss Chang Er's festival again! Happy Mooncake Festival in advance!!

Saw many mooncake booths in shopping centres lately. Compared to traditional mooncakes, I pretty much prefer snowskin truffle mooncakes which are served chill. And after the disappointment of the drop in standards of both Hyatt's and Peony Jade's snowskin truffle mooncakes, this time I've decided to try out the Heavenly collection from BakerzIn. And it did not disappoint!

I bought 2 boxes from their booth at Westmall. And manz....I just have to mention about the auntie, which is...."very good" lah. She told me the retail price for these mooncakes is S$58 per box. If I buy 1 box, there will 10% off cum a free tote bag. I feel the tote bag is quite pretty and of more-than-acceptable quality. It has words of "BakerzIn" in gold in the middle, looks like it's made of synthetic leather(brown) with some cyan stripes patterns(pictured below). She further encouraged me to buy 2 boxes to enjoy 15% off with 2 totes bags, after emphasizing "I only left 2 bags already! No more already!"

Okie so I bought 2 boxes(I'm so easy to close....[=.=) and went to the cashier. It amounts to S$105+, which is definitely not 15% off. So I asked the cashier, and the girl told me it's 15% off the R.P $58, and then PLUS another 7% GST....... I was like...."Wah that auntie also very "dry"(cunning in hokkien)". Anyway, since I wanna try the mooncakes, the price also doesnt matter la....but you know...it's the feeling of being conned. (=.=)''''''''''''''''' Ok lah, we were also given 3 BakerzIn 20% dine-in vouchers with no minimum spending. That's great!! Time to savor the yummy turkey & bacon aglio olio with the mango cake!!

Somehow, next day I was also at Westmall, true enough, the tote bag which I had is not longer displayed. In place, it was another ugly and cheapo-looking tote bag. I was thinking...heng ah..... :P

Heavenly Collection

This delightful and fun range of snow skin features an array of liquor filled truffles in the middle of smooth, white lotus paste. Pick from divine flavours such as Yuzu Vodka, Irish Coffee, Single Malt Whisky and Rum & Raisin. If you can’t make up your mind, just take them all home! Comes with a beautiful recyclable tote bag. (Serves 8, 2 pieces each)

$52 (Online Price)  $44.20 (15.00% off)

I love all the flavours except coffee because I dont take coffee but my favorite will be the Single Malt whisky...which somehow tastes like champagne. Haha. =D By the way, 1 slight, annoying thing will be the mooncakes dont have labels so you wont know the flavours until you taste it unless you've tried them before. And although their size is mini...I feel somehow they're bigger than normal mini's and they're very filing. At one time, I can only take max 2.

Oh by the way, my box looks exactly like the one pictured below except it's in pink and purple! So pretty! It's a very good quality box and within it, it comes with plastic trays too so it's definitely reusable. =D All of all, I think S$53 per box(the price I paid) is very worth it.

If you're thinking buying online is cheaper(because it states there S$44.20), NO, it isnt. The person doing the website is as "dry"(cunning in hokkien) as the auntie. After adding into cart, adding GST and such, it still adds up to slightly more than the price I paid. With the free 20% off dine-in vouchers, it's still better off to buy from booths. =)

Tips for sensitive and acne-prone skin + recommended products

I've always have sensitive and acne-prone skin. It means skin gets irritated(itchy) and red easily, bumps or pimples just pop out like every alternate day. Although they'll heal, undoubtedly some of them left pigmentations behind, which is super annoying. But recently, I realized I'm blemish free for quite awhile. It has been....few weeks? I am so happy. You might think what's so surprising about that? Well, you dont know the woes of sensitive and acne-prone skin then..............Sigh.....

Here are some tips, if you care to know what works for me.

1) Reduce irritation for your skin. That means; lesser abrasion with your skin.

a) Dont use cotton wool for any lotions or removal of make-up(except for eyes). Use clean hands to pat lotion instead
b) Dont use brushes to apply foundations/bb-creams. Use clean hands. If you must use brushes, make sure they're very clean
c) Dont use overly harsh products containing high levels of acid or chemicals, which are usually in whitening or firming products. Harmful substances include: mineral oil, parabens, silicone, alcohol. Recommend: TheFaceShop - E’thym O2 Water Detox
d) For removal of makeup, Clarisonic Mia is highly highly recommended to assist. Invest in 1. Use the sensitive brush head instead of the normal one
e) Keep hair away from your face, even when you're sleeping(tie them up in a super super loose pony upwards). Clip up your fringe or use hairband if you're home
f) Always pat dry your skin with clean towels
g) Bubble up any cream/lotion cleanser before putting them on skin. If not, then use foam cleansers as they're the most gentle and mild, like, TheFaceShop Blemish Zero Bubble Foam Cleanser.

2) Every person is different. Try ONLY 1 new product at a time, so that you'll know if you're allergic to any chemicals/product/fragrances etc. For example, I'm allergic to Arbutin, which is a whitening ingredient in some products

3) Dont ever touch your face unnecessarily

4) Keep face away from your phone when you're answering calls. Your phone is super dirty with your hands touching it everyday

5) Hydration is the key
Always hydrate your skin well. Only when your skin is well-hydrated, you have lesser problems. If you have oily to combi skin, then choose lotion or gel-based, if you have dry skin then choose emulsion or cream.

6) Gear towards products which are organic and hypoallergenic or uses natural ingredients, lower chance of allergy but no guarantee as everyone's difference.

7) Try products which can strengthen your immune system(of the skin). For example, TheFaceShop, the Su Hyang Snow Series.

8) Alternate between normal products and anti-acne products. The latter usually contains salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or tea-tree oil

9) If you need to use a scrub, use a gentle one or one which is anti-acne. For example, Garnier - Pure Active 3-in-1 wash/scrub/mask. Remember not to use scrub too frequently because scrubs can make your surface skin layer thinner and thinner, thus making it even more sensitive. Maybe once a week or fortnight is enough.

10) Use purifying masks once a week or fornight, depending on your skin conditions. A good purifying mask can clear your skin of impurities. A good one will be Origins - Out Of trouble mask

11) Keep your skincare routine simple. Lotions as toners is definitely necessary. Follow up with any 1 hydration emulsion/serum. Dont overload your skin

12) Have enough sleep(8-10hours), and GOOD quality of sleep. If quality of sleep is not good, sleep 12 hours also no use.

13) Be happy and (tryyyy) stress-free (easier said than done, I know)

14) Change your pillow cases more frequently depending on how sensitive/weak your skin is. Maybe once every 3 days etc.

For Make-up
15) Try to gear towards lighter formulas for foundations(for e.g gel-based) or bb-creams so that it's not so taxing for the skin. For example, ZA Total Hydration BB Cream UV White or Bourjois 10 hours sleep effect foundation. Naturally lighter formulas have lesser coverage but it's better for your skin in the long run.

16) Use more loose powder instead of 2-way cakes(powder foundations) and pressed powers because 2-way cakes and pressed power tend to clog pores more easily and cause more irritations as you're sliding them across your face. For loose powders, you merely pat them on your face, and the finer they are, the better. 2 highly recommended ones are Laura Mercier loose setting powder in translucent and Etude House - Dream On loose powder.

17) If you need to touch up pressed powder, try a fine, light and translucent one. For e.g, Etude House Dear Girls Be Clear Pact in Peach or Shu Uemura compact.

18)) Go make-up free as frequent as you can, but still must apply sunscreen and remove it thereafter. Try lighter ones if possible, like Biore - UV Bright Face Milk.

Of course, some logical tips include remove your makeup totally and completely with cleansing oil or gel; follow up with double cleansing using after Clarisonic Mia and also treating your zits as soon as they pop up; Eat healthy, drink more water etc

Fourteen men have been charged in court with having commercial sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Ten of them have indicated today that they would plead guilty, while one has claimed trial.
The men, aged between 22 and 75 years old, allegedly paid the girl between $40 and $150 for sexual services at budget hotels and a lodging house in Geylang between May 18 and 31 this year.

Omg!! This is just sooOoO gross. The average age of these uncles is 55.  55year old uncle with 17year old girl....is sooOoOo...........errr................
Seriously, I'm really super open-minded. I have nothing against prostitutes and nothing against single guys with "such needs"(provided not my guy frens. =P) BUT for such a huge age gap.........dont they simply feel obscene?? It's like f**king their own daughters or granddaughters. And those girls....gambatte......you'll have a "bright future" if you can "bare" "hardship" at such a tender age.

And I exclaimed, " Woah!! For $40 to $150 you can f*** a 17year old sweetie?! So cheap!! Dear, you can afford 10 times!!

Dearie: 哪里止

Me: *Turn and stare at him tight-lipped*

Dearie: Hahahaha just kidding just kidding!

When "ponding" becomes "waterfall".......and students become spiderman........it is no longer funny......

This is no longer funny!! Too dangerous!!

Woah!!!! Woah!!! Woah!!! Our first Waterfall!! =D

Our first Rapids!!!

Me: OMG!! Dear, so scary!! I'm so short, wait drown in the lift how??
Dearie: Wontttt laaaaa...........even if reach people's knees, at most reach your waist only mah.

In Hong Kong, different colour coded warning means different actions required for different sectors. Most of the time, thunder storm warning applies more to certain sectors like swimming pools, construction sites and most importantly, to kindergartens and schools operations. If it is Red storm warning, kindergartens will be closed and kids are not expected to go to school. If it is Black storm warning, most schools will be closed. It would also possibly means that flooding will occur.
Now, can you imagine kids and young teenagers to go to school under the situation shown below? It is actually pretty dangerous for youngsters to be caught in such situation.
Before some ignorant people start to accuse me for nitpicking PAP government, let me put it straight, with the huge amount of money we have spent in setting up our weather monitoring system catered to our airport which is one of the most busiest airport in the world, we are definitely adequately equipped to provide such weather warning system for public service. If Hong Kong can do it, I don't think we are any inferior to them.
Hong Kong could even predict typhoon path one week in advanced and put up necessary weather warnings in advanced but we do not require that in Singapore. What we need is just a few hours advanced warning to Singaporeans and schools to make the necessary preparations.
We in fact have such advanced warning system in place but it is a paid service. For those in the army, you would know that you can call in for weather advanced forecast. They use Cat system. Even when there is no storm, you could well get a Cat 5 for presence of thunder.
Thus, the most important question is, why is PAP government reluctant to provide such advanced coded weather warning to the public? Don't they care about our young children at all? Since huge public money has been spent on various advanced weather monitoring equipment, including weather satellites and such, we should demand the PAP government to provide such FREE PUBLIC SERVICE that serves to prevent unnecessary injuries and worse, loss of lives and property.
Why would we risk the lives of our students to get to school but in the end, finding their schools or lecture halls being flooded like the ones in NUS? Or like those students ended up like this at their school?
I would urge the PAP government stop being crowded with such a Third World mentally and start to take the welfare of our citizens seriously. After spending millions in weather monitoring system, we deserve better public service from the weather system, not just some ambiguous announcement and warning which means nothing at all. We need to set up a proper categorized and colour coded weather warning system to protect our citizens, particularly our students from being exposed unnecessarily to the dangers of adverse weather.
It may affect some of our economic activities and lower our economic growth a little, but the safety of our citizens' lives is more than growth digits.
