How to sync pictures/files from your handphone AUTOMATICALLY to your Laptop/PC? Vice versa

INSTEAD OF

1) using a connector to connect your handphone to your laptop/PC to COPY&PASTE
2) setting up WIFI/Bluetooth on both handphone and laptop/PC to transfer files by WIFI/Bluetooth
3) Emailing yourself

MANUALLY, for EVERY picture on EVERY other day,

You can set up a DROPBOX, to automatically sync pictures/files between your mobile and laptop/PC daily. (You might have already know this, as the dropbox app usually comes with android phones. =) )

I've personally tried the other methods before and either they're very troublesome, or they take a much longer time.

This dropbox method will install a dropbox folder each on BOTH your handphone AND laptop/PC.

By doing so, everytime you're back home/office, so long so your handphone is placed within a distance from your laptop/PC(sometimes as ridiculously as you simply just walked past), your pictures/files will AUTOMATICALLY be synced on both your DROPBOX folders on both your handphone and laptop/PC. It works both ways.

For example, if you drag an excel or word file into the DROPBOX folder in your laptop/PC, when your handphone comes close, the same excel/word file will appear in the DROPBOX folder in your handphone. And similarly, any pictures/files in the designated folders will also be synced to the DROPBOX folder in your laptop/PC. Do note if files/pictures on either device gets edited or deleted in that dropbox folder, the same goes to the same dropbox folder in the other device(unless you make another copy in another folder).

Basically, what you have to do;
1) download DROPBOX(the program from https://www.dropbox.com, register and everything) on your laptop/PC

2) download the DROPBOX app on your handphone(register and everything). FYI, I'm using Samsung Note 2(android).

3) On your laptop/PC, install the DROPBOX folder onto somewhere easily accessible, the desktop maybe.





4) Choose what folders to sync. If you choose Camera Uploads, then EVERY single picture you snap with your handphone camera(in the Camera "folder") gets sync to your laptop/PC AUTOMATICALLY. Very hassle-free. Choose this option if you want ALL your handphone pictures to be in your laptop/PC, ALWAYS.

HOW TO SYNC SELECTIVE PICTURES?

Alternatively, you can choose to sync only selective pictures to save disc space on your laptop/PC. Simply choose/set-up a folder, say, "Dropbox Photos". Just 1 folder, if you're afraid of getting confused. Then, only pictures moved or copied into this "Dropbox Photos" folder in your handphone gets synced to your laptop/PC daily. For mine, for your reference, it's "Photos"(choose this when you're installing DROPBOX program on your laptop/PC)

You can go to your "Gallery", click the pictures which you wanna sync, "Share" via "Add to Dropbox".  When you choose to "Share via Dropbox", even if pictures in the dropbox subsequently gets deleted, the original pictures will still remain in your "Gallery".

Choose your designated "to be synced" folder, for e.g, Photos.

Within the "Photos" folder, you can create subfolders like, "Work Info", "Food" etc, so that it's neater. For e.g, mine are "blog" and "work-info".

Press "ADD" at the bottom. And then it will do it's job.

 

The pictures will similarly appear in my laptop, in the same exact sub-folders.

DROPBOX can also save your computer-screenshots on your laptop/PC automatically(into it's dropbox folder), so you dont have to open "Paint" program to "Paste" to save it individually.

It's all automaticcccccccc~~~~

I definitely would have to say choosing the "Sync All" option, a.k.a by choosing "Camera Uploads" will be so cool, because you dont even need to shift your pictures or "Share via Dropbox". Everything gets synced automatically.

THEREFORE, you can also choose this option but yet "copy & paste" the pictures you want to keep into another folder in your laptop/PC, and choose to delete those which you wont want in the dropbox folder. To minimize hassle, you can probably do a major cleaning on your laptop/PC once in...maybe few weeks? Depending on your pictures intake.

Alright~ This sounds abit troublesome for the 1st time, but trust me, ONCE AND FOR ALL, you will thank me later when ALL pictures get synced automatically everydayyyyy~ =D

BOMB ME - Android game app

If you know me, you'll know I'm not a fan of games. It's not that I dont like them but my interests die very easily. Hmm..........I do play games but they're word games like Scrabble/Literati, online multiplayer games like Gunbound and Pangya Golf game, Bridge(card game) on Viwawa.com. I also used to play Counterstrike on LAN and Frontline Commando on my Samsung Note 2. Just so you know my gaming style huh....... Candy Crush? Bejewel? Not my thing~ 

SO! I recently started playing a game call "Bomb Me" on my handphone and it was pretty cute. It's something like gunbound, whereby you just shoot people with different weapons(I think I have a violent nature). The graphics are cute and vibrant. Considering a phone app, it does awe me. I think it's good to pass out time. Naturally there are the level up and upgrade your weapons stuffs.













I've also just started playing only so also cant tell you much~

Hmm.......but the rather irritating thing is.......I've played 3 games so far, 1 solo(meaning 1 VS 1) and 2 team games......but I was disconnected so easily from the 2 team games and so I didnt complete them. I wonder its because my connection is lousy or that the server of the game is weak.

BeautyPlus App (Android)

Recently I came across this android phone app, BeautyPlus recommended by my friend on facebook.

And I'm really loving one of it's filters, call "Sweet". 

Not only it brightens and smooths out any graininess of your pictures as well as your skin with just 1 click(hee!), it gives this pinkish and sweet hue that makes it look kinda romantic(without looking overly blur and fake). =P

In fact, dearie's complexion and skin tone is more like so in the filtered picture(he is pretty fair one).

Maybe not super sharp semi-pro/DSLR quality here, but since the pictures are taken with my Samsung Note 2, I'm already pretty satisfied with it. The other 3 filters which I like are; Natural, Fairy, Fresh.

If you wish for more control in skin smoothing, then there is the "Skin" icon, where you can adjust for "Smoother/Whitening/Tone" in varying degrees. I feel the effect is pretty natural too. =)

And I have to say I simply love the "Enlarger(Eye)" function. Not because I love to edit my eyes to be super big(I see no point to edit your pictures until you dont even look like yourself), BUT it's because most of the times when I smile, my eyes will shrink(mi-mi eyes, I'm trying to practice to smile without my eyes shrinking, or at least, have them shrink to the same size. =P) I guess this is pretty common, and I also cant do anything......... But the WORSE thing is, sometimes, not only do they shrink, they become 1 big 1 small. :~( That is just super SAD and UGLY. So I love this function because I can use it to enlarge my right eye(on your left), which is smaller than my left eye, so that they look the SAME size. (=.=)zzz. 

The difference in the appearance of the size is actually because of my double eyelid fold(one is higher while one is more inner). That is why you'll see even though I use the same falsies on both eyes, my left eye(the bigger eye, which is on your right) looks more prominent with "lashes" even though both eyes have the same falsies on. 

Usually I can use makeup to adjust so that they look the same size, but everytime when I smile...one big and one small again........Sigh.......might be the muscles or something..... =( Of course it's not overly obvious until I look like a freak la...but still obvious in pictures lo. By the way, angles means everything in photography. Usually pictures taken in this angle will make your eyes bigger and your face smaller. =P Granted....I dont always take selfies....maybe once in awhile. 

Well, anyway......I'm not one who always take pictures and I doubt the habit of using this app will lasts....but for the time being, I am indeed loving this app because it's very fuss-free and easy to use. Just choose 1 filter, enlarge my right eye by dotting on it once or twice and I'm done. =) Easy peasy. 

By the way, I did not "brighten" my eyes in this picture although there is this function(call Brighten I think) in this app. I suppose somehow the light were captured in my eyes? Hmm..................

If you've followed my blog long enough....you'll know I just prefer the "natural" style....no matter it's make-up...or any other thing else.....because I'm simply...so natural? Lol.

Anyway, I think you'll like this app too, it's free anyway. =) 

Oh by the way, another android app which I like lately is PhotoFancie, which I use to create collages as in my AUG 2013 favorites. I feel it's super flexible as you can control the sizing, the brightness/colour of the pictures as well as control the different sizing and arrangment of the collage size.

For Note 2: Baby pink jelly casing with mirror

I received numerous compliments and interesting comments on my Note 2 casing. Haha! Saying how cute it is! So decided to share here.

My design is the pink one! With the lollipop!! It's a jelly case! And what's so special about it?? The lollipop is actually 3D and protruding so that you can slide the cover of it to reveal a round MIRROR!!! Hahaha!! What else I love about it is: because the lollipop mirror is protruding in a 3D way, the phone wont lie flat in contact with a table(it will appear as if the phone is suspended in the air, just maybe 0.5cm from the the table), thus it wont muffle the speaker which is located on the bottom of the phone. So I can still listen to my music effectively. Also, when I'm outside and the table is kinda not very clean, it also keeps the pink jelly case clean as only the plastic and dirt-proof lollipop touches the table. In addition, as it's jelly case, removal is effortless. To me, it's still pretty light-weight. Weighs around the same as those covers with flap. Only bad point is it cant charge when phone is in the case, need to remove the case to charge properly.

Samsung Mobile Service Center at Jurong Point - Just Beware

Hmm....it feels like forever since I've last blogged. That's probably because I felt as if many things have happened. And I really wish I can update all at once. There are so much information, important information which I wished to share. I'll try to keep them brief and straight to the point.

Firstly, did I mention that my Samsung Note 2 was kinda faulty earlier? I had trouble charging it. It's not that I cant charge it at all, it's just that it's only chargeable when the charger/portable charger is tilted at a specific angle. That being said, of course it's super inconvenient and inefficient. So I brought it to Samsung who informed me that I have to wait 3-5working days and I will probably lose all my info. I did intend to sync my data for backup but as the charging port was faulty, I was unable to do that. Thankfully, the CS told me it's possible to use external SD card to backup instead. So I popped over to Challenger and spent S$50(member price) to buy a 32GB Sandisk Class10 micro-SD card just because I need it urgently. My heart pained because I knew the original Samsung Class10 micro-SD cards are selling so much cheaper in Qoo10. FYI, I read that Class10 SD cards reads much faster than Class4(older version). That's probably why they are more expensive too. Although the backup process done by the young boy was tedious, incomplete and time-consuming(somehow I lost the video of my brother's ROM solemnization in the process...sigh...)....I'm still thankful for his help.

On the 3rd day, Samsung called up and the same boy informed me that my phone was corroded(with water etc) and my warranty is void. And I have to pay S$330+ to change the entire motherboard, XXX board, stereo and basically everything. I was struck dumb. I replied to leave my phone alone as I thought of getting it repaired outside might be cheaper. But after I disconnected the call, I pondered....I only had problems charging my phone which is totally functionable so why should I change all the motherboard, stereo etc? So I called up again. Throughout the conversation, the boy had little to tell me and he cant answer my technical questions and so I requested to talk to the technician. But I was rejected. Finally I asked if they can just change the charging port only(which I will pay of course). He answered they cant because some Singapore authorities/law disallow them to return a corroded phone to the customer without changing the motherboard etc. It's totally absurd. I requested to talk to the manager then, but was also rejected.

Finally, exasperated, since I cant overrule the rules and regulations, I asked if I can sign a disclaimer. I waited for a full 5minutes again, which the boy probably asked his very cowardly manager who dont dare to talk to me, the boy finally answered it's possible; the disclaimer will state that I allow them to only change the charging port of my corroded phone while leaving all other parts intact. And that I will pay for the fee(S$34) NO MATTER the charging works or not as well as releasing my rights to hold Samsung liable for any faults which may arise in my phone in future.

I was like, "Okie fine". I was pretty sure it's only my charging port which is faulty so I'm thinking I will take a gamble. If still cant charge, I will bring it elsewhere to repair. At most, I can always buy a battery charger which is around S$30+ for a Samsung original. But throughout the night, I became worried. It was obvious that the technician is very incompetent and suddenly I'm wary of him doing anything to my phone. What if after he changed the charging port and somehow other parts of my phone dont work??!!! And I told dearie, the technician so cannot make it, skali is from China lor, better dont take any risk. So the next morning I called up at 11am(they opened at 11am) to request them to leave my phone as it is. But I was shocked to be informed that they had already changed the charging port. I was so indignant and exclaimed, "But I haven sign the disclaimer form!! Shouldnt you wait till I sign and then change??" He replied my consent through the phone was assumed to be valid. Damn.......anyway on the way to Jurong Point, I was praying that my phone will be okay. Finally it was my turn and true enough, with the new charging port, the phone can finally be charged!!

But my relief was short-lived. Still at the service counter, I realized my phone cant detect any reception or rather, my SIM card. I then asked the boy to bring it to the technician to fix it right. He came back around 10minutes later with a sorry face and said sorry that my phone cant be fixed and they cant be held liable based on the disclaimer said over the phone. At that point of time, my expression was indescribable. I tried to calm myself down and said that my phone is totally functionable when I brought it there to repair, it's just that the phone can only be charged when the charger is at a specific angle.

"I can always buy a battery charger at S$30+ and I can still use my phone even if I didnt come here to change the charging port. Now, your technician totally messed up my phone until it cant even detect my SIM card!! How am I going to use my phone?? It's only few months old!" It was a Saturday and the service center was pretty crowded. Although I tried to keep my tone level, devoid of anger and fury, I raised my volume a little. Not because I held fault with the boy(since he has no fault; the fault lies with the technician), but because I know with the other customers looking on.....yes....it'll definitely helps, if you know what I mean.

Indeed, he went back into the technicians' room again and came back 10minutes later and finally fixed my phone. My Note 2 finally detected my SIM card and network and worked perfectly! I was so happy! All my info and everything were intact too. Shucks.....shouldnt have bought the micro-SD card from Challenger. Anyway, I thanked the boy sincerely and requested for the name of the technician. I told him frankly that I'm going to lodge a complaint because the technician was totally incompetent and irresponsible. The boy then gave me the initials and wrote H.X on my service form. I laughed and asked, "Are you kidding me? I want the full name."

"From China is it?" I asked.

The boy answered sheepishly, "Err....ya"

I said, "No wonder."

I was right...............


Idiot!! Put me through so much trouble, so much worry, so much time and hassle.

I did signed the disclaimer eventually. My phone is still working great, with just the change of the charging port at S$34, and not $330 for the entire motherboard/stereo etc.

And I repeated this whole story to most of my friends who are using Samsung mobiles. It's puzzling why all the guys got it with patient comprehension while 2 girlfriends asked me impatiently, "So what's the moral of the story???"

Seriously, if after such a long and detailed story, you still cant get it then I also dont know what to say. Sigh.........

I just wish nobody go through another ordeal just like I did, or spend few hundreds needlessly to boast Samsung's share price.


Oh ya, dearie just told me another PRC driver banged into a female motorist today.

They're creating so much problems in Sg. I really wish they'll go back to their motherland.

Android theme apps for Samsung Note 2 - GO launcher

Hey guys! Just a quick entry for you. =)

Forgive me if I cant stop raving about Note 2, because I'm really loving it. =D

Oh and I just realized if I blog from my android app, the resolutions of the pictures are small, thus blur. But thank god I dont need to transfer/sync or email them to my laptop for the full size pictures like how I used to with my iPhone. They're simply auto transferred(vice versa 2-way) to my computer's DROPBOX whenever my phone is near my laptop. I can then transfer bigger and clearer pictures to blog. However, the bad point means I'm unable to blog with big and clear pictures if I'm outside with only my Note 2.

I might be slow, but I finally got around to customizing it. And I'm really happy with the results because not only are they pleasing to my eyes, they proved to be extremely useful as well when they came with the added  flexible options and functions.

Firstly, I downloaded GO Launcher at Play Store, which is basically what you download if you wanna change the theme of your phone, including the wallpapers and icons. After you have downloaded GO Launcher, then you can start to browse GO Launcher themes. And here I got mine, Flower Love GO Launcher theme. 

For the panel at the top, you need to download the app, GO weather. Hmm....I am concerned with weather lately as downpours can come so suddenly. But main thing is because I like that the time is magnified in a larger font. Easier to see. Date is there too. 

The 5 icons on the most bottom panel are the HOME buttons but you can actually add more by customizing it. Simply swipe left/right to view more HOME buttons. Like how I added GO SMS PRO, default call, What'sapp and CHROME in the picture below. 

Lowest Panel(from left to right): GO SMS PRO, default call, What'sapp and CHROME.

GO SMS PRO is what you download when you wanna change a different look/theme on your SMS screen. You can browse different themes and download them. For mine(below), I'm using GO SMS Spring Theme. 

So sweet righttttttttttttttttttt??!!! =P

To customize my LOCK screen too, I downloaded GO Locker. 

The theme is also Flower Love. 

Fine, I admit I love pink okayyyyy. So long so I dont wear them. Haha!

Once you swiped the flower kettle(haha), the pattern security will come out(if you choose to lock your phone like mine).

There are other stuff which you can download to further customize your phone, like GO Contacts etc. But it's kinda weird, sometimes there will be error and you have to keep trying to download it successfully. So far, I'm unable to download my theme.  =(

There are many flexible options which you can choose when these apps are downloaded. Sometimes they save you the trouble to download additional apps. For example, they also got a function which is something like task killer. They have the option of pop-up SMS which you can reply there and then. You can schedule SMS as well. It's also much easier to shift your icons from page to page or edit the order of your pages. You need to explore them yourselves. I do know they will use more ram thus shortening my battery life but so far, I feel it's okay leh. Indeed it shortens battery life, but still sufficient for me.

And my favorite android app so far will be, like I mentioned before, GTunes Music Downloader. It's just super awesome to download unlimited mp3 into your playlist. And what's more, some concert versions can be found too. Only bad point is there's bound to be some broken links which causes failed downloads. Although, out of the many which I've downloaded successfully, only 1 song is of a less than great quality. So overall, I'm still super pleased with this app. While I was searching for my fave Coco Lee's tracks, I found 1 song which I've never hear before. I love love love it so much. Especially the chorus!

My gorgeous mint green casing for Note 2

Alice recommended me this seller Rosagreen at qoo10.sg (gmarket) who sells good quality phone casings.  And indeed I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.

It's of superior quality, not heavy, flat and lean so it does not make the Note2 overly bulky in it. The mint green is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!  It's like I can never get sick looking at it. The top of the casing has holes so you can answer calls with the cover closed. There are also 3 card slots. Paid a nett of around S$17.50 after topping up S$2.50 for registered mail. Normal mail is complimentary. Diary casings like such will retail at least S$28.

I did online purchase via debit card but weirdly enough the order didnt appear in my history.  Since my account wasnt debited when I checked it few days ago, I thought the order didnt went through. But today the parcel was being couriered to me by the seller itself, like maybe after 1week after the order was placed. I assumed the seller only proceed after she receives money.  So I would say delivery is still very prompt!

Since then, I started using paypal instead, just that need to top up 50cts extra for admin fees lo. #/^&^$#!/

Samsung Note 2, you're finally mine!

Ahem~! It has been so long. What have I been up to?

Finally got my Samsung Note 2!! Am very happy. =D Totally no regrets for changing from my iPhone 4.

And FYI, I seldom intentionally go change phone before my contract is up. I dont know why I'm so drawn to Note 2, perhaps the specs impressed me and fortunately it didnt disappoint me. As I was saying, it was practically sold out everywhere and I was pretty lucky to find it. Bought it at R.P S$998. After selling off my 8months old iPhone 4 at S$470, technically, it costs me around S$500. Which is not too bad I guess.

It's so much more flexible and conventional than iPhone except the cons will be, it reacts slightly slower and battery life is shorter. Love the big screen, the camera, just everything! Loving this app right now, call Gtunes music downloader which allows me to download any music and tracks goes right to my existing playlist where I can play repeatedly. It also have alot of motions which is pretty cool but doesnt work 100% of the time. Maybe 70%?

Actually it has been a whirlwind of events right after I was discharged from hospital.

But I'm simply too tired and lazy to update them all, especially when few pictures were taken and the very few which were taken(by my ex iPhone 4) were blur. They became worse when I uploaded them from my Note 2(pictures transferred from iPhone4). Arrghhhh!!

Btw, if you're like me, who is a convert from iPhone to Samsung Android phones and need to transfer all your messages, contacts, calenders and pictures. simply back up your existing iPhone with iTunes then download "The easy phone sync" PC version on to your PC and also "The easy phone sync" app version in your Samsung Note 2. Sync them and tadah, you'll get back all your message history and simply everything. =)

It's time iPhone stop hogging and dictate their users with their selfish and uncompromising attitude.

And I cant say how much I really appreciate the "back" button on Note 2. Like common, I suddenly realized it was so foolish and dumb to use a phone without a back button all this while!! Not that I'm condemning iPhone, but well...........let's just say my life is much easier now. I might talk about the pros and cons of Samsung Note 2 if I have the time........also need time to explore more. =)


Recently, being very caught up with 2 series, namely,

电视剧《画皮》凌潇肃、薛凯琪、李宗翰、陈怡蓉 (China Production)

Initially I thought the story would be something like the movie starred by Chen Kun, Zhao Wei and Zhou Xun, as in, clear cut and expected but the series is somehow filled with more contents and twists. It's not very fast-paced but definitely not slow. Not bad. Like 陈怡蓉's acting very much and Fiona Sit is pretty cute!

And Yes, we all(my colleagues) agreed that Kate Tsui cant act~ ZzzzZzz She reminds me of that girl in Twilight? The b* who 2-timed the bf, yes, the one whose face dont have expressions but always have a h*rny look. Like her, Kate loves to pout her lips 24/7. ZzzzZzz. Everytime the camera switch, she'll have tears running down her face which I'm so sure it's eye drops lor. Otherwise tvb shows usually is 1 take from no tears to tears falling down, as with all the other veteran actors/actresses.
