Natural-looking and long-lasting make-up for oily, combination and sensitive skin.

Ok! So let this be a reallllly quick post! I have colleagues asking me what powder/eye-liner/mascara do I use because my make-up stays pretty much the same at the end of the working day with totally no smudges under my eyes. So here is a post sharing what products I usually use, they're mostly very lasting products even on it's own. I dont use all of them all the time, but I can share when and how do I use them together.

I have oily/combination(oily t-zone + dry cheeks), super sensitive and kinda fair skin. And before this, my makeup used to melt and oxidize into an ashy colour at the end of the day(damn the weather). Now they dont. Most of the time(esp. during work), I wear pressed powder, liner/mascara, blush and tinted lip balm. An example of the finished look can be found in the 1st picture just below this post. If you're interested in natural-looking and very long-lasting makeup, then do read on. Guys, you can skip this. =P

A) Primers
Primers are basically stuff which you apply onto your face before your makeup to prep your skin for better application and to help your makeup lasts. 1,2,3 & 4 are in order of application.

1) Etude House Skin Mal-gam Oil control toner - apply this with a cotton wool on clean face. Wonderful scent!
2) Biore UV perfect face milk for oily skin, spf 50+ PA+++ - controls oil, acts as a sunblock too
3) Nivea Visage UV blocker oil-free moisturizer, spf 30 PA++ - I usually apply this if I'm wearing pressed powder alone without foundation/BB cream. It's to prevent the surface from becoming too dry and flaky after you pat your pressed powder. If I'm wearing foundation/bb cream, I'll skip this.
4) Make-up Forever HD Primer in #5, oil-free - helps makeup lasts and to cover slight redness. You can get a Sephora consultant to choose a suitable primer for you because there are as many as 7 types for different skin types/colours. As it has a slight white cast, so I only apply on T-zone and below my eyes and blend out(very impt), so that it acts as a contouring primer too.
5) Urban decay Eye shadow Primer Potion - apply this only if you're applying eye-shadow and just before your eye-shadow. It helps eye-shadow stays all day/night.

B) Face products (not in order)

After your primers, you can choose to apply pressed powder or loose powder or foundation/BB cream and then set with loose powder. It's your choice. Apply concealer if you need before these products.

6. Make-up forever HD foundation, colour#117 (oil free) -  as it's a fond de teint, it only offers sheer coverage. More for day makeup.
7. Etude House Moistfull BB cream - spf 30 PA++ with collagen - a moisturizng BB cream with medium coverage. I use this during nights out.
8. Make-up forever High definition powder - to set your foundation/bb cream. Apply with a puff
9. Etude house BB magic pact in No.1 Light Beige, pressed powder. I usually wear this alone during work after my primers. Sheer coverage and natural looking

C) Eyes/Cheeks/Lips

10) Fresh Inc, Sugar Honey tinted lip treatment - although it's a balm, it has very pigmented colours, just like a lippy. I love this pinkish nude lip balm with it's very buildable colour. Simply dab on lips for very natural-looking lips. Apply once or twice for a more intense colour. It's not super moisturizing so it's quite lasting.
11) Fairydrops Platinum mascara - Lengthens and doesnt smudge all day but I really hate the brush sometimes, coats unevenly.
12) Revlon blusher in 020 Tawny Peach - not a very pigmented blush but I really like that it's a very buildable and natural colour. For fair skin like mine, I'm terrified with very pigmented blushers which can go very intense at first swipe. I'll look like I'm singing opera. (=.=)''''' Therefore I love this Revlon peachy blush because I can control how intense it looks. Natural base make-up needs to go with natural-looking blush. Very lasting. Not recommended for tan skin as it might not be visible.
13) Maybelline Impact Express Smooth Felt eye liner in black - I use them to line upper and lower eyes too and they dont smudge at all. Very easy to control/use. However, it's not water-proof. But it's already good enough for me on normal working days.

All the above mentioned products are simply great because they're so flexible - they can be very natural looking or applied more intensely for a night of clubbing depending on how you use them.

Sometimes, I'll throw on a pair of falsies if I have time to spare . =P This is the best eye lash glue I've used. IMHO, it's much much better than Shu Uemura or DUO.

14) Darkness eye lash glue, from Korea. Comes in clear or black.

Last but definitely not the least, always bring 15) Clean&Clear Oil Blotters with you! And you're done!

All these products dont break me out and can be purchased at Watson, SASA or Sephora.

Thanks for reading!

(P/S Products with numbers underlined are what I usually use/wear for work)

Jcube Power Failure

Dearie and me were at Jcube yesterday(Sunday) and boy, it's was so so so crowded. Not much shopping available(as yet I supposed) but did manage to buy a pair of kid's flat pumps(the biggest size..zzz) at a Korean clothing shop with an ultra long name...Neve La La something. The tips were slightly narrow and they kindly did some expanding for me, again and again, till I say ok. So kind. =)

Also bought some beauty stuff at SASA and 2 bras at Young Hearts Lingerie.

Dearie joked, "Dear, next time we got children, boy call Watson and girl call Sasa okieeeee? Since you love shopping there so much. =D" Coupled with his ultra big FAKE smile hor....I really....cough blood sometimes.

We planned to have our lunner(lunch+dinner) at Eat @ Taipei at the level where the ice rink was but it's only open for dinner at 6pm. Which is totally silly. Hello it's Sunday! Eventually settled at Thai Express because dearie wanted thai food. And the service was sloppy. Food was so unsatisfying. I used to order "all prawns" for my seafood shrimp paste fried rice but was disappointingly informed this time that maximum only 4 prawns. =( So I requested for no squids instead. Dearie's tom yum seafood soup tasted slightly diluted. Apparently there has been a drop in standard.

I'm recommending Porn, which is a thai food restaurant opened by Pornsak, our mediacorp TV host. The tom yum soup is nice and I like that it comes with a mini burner. It keeps the soup piping hot for a considerable amount of time. What's more, they serve ice water in metal cups which keeps them chilled for a longer time than plastic cups. It's a very very considerate move for people like me who needs to sip ice water time to time when taking spicy food. =X Lerk Thai's tom yum soup is nice too but it's too spicy for me. Porn's jade green curry was nice too though I prefer Lerk Thai's one. All the seafood from both restaurants are very fresh. Recommended.

I really really love the bras I bought at Young Hearts. They're soooo comfortable. Usually for females, when they get home, they will simply strip off their bras because the underwires are torturous!! However, it's not the case for my newly bought bras. They offer all the support but were totally comfortable! But I guess part of the reason is I was wearing the wrong size all along previously. (=.=)''''

I was happily shopping for the various different designs there when the salesgirl approached me and offer to measure my size for me. Errrr........I was of course very embarrassed and declined. However, she was very helpful and said it's better this way as the sizing will be more accurate. Actually she kinda "assumed closed" and proceeded to loop the measuring tape around me already so I relented by saying, "Ok! But can we measure in the fitting room?" Lol. Paiseh le...

Ok so anyway, the size which she measured was different from what I've been wearing. She didnt insist that she's right, however, she picked out 3 bras for me of the size she measured for me to try. And I obediently tried them on, alongside with the other 2 which I picked(of my usual size). And true enough, her bras fitted very very well while mine didnt fit very well. Well....I always thought ill-fitting bras are simply because the cutting dont suit me. And while it's true there are slightly different cuttings for different brands....I had to believe her because the bras she picked for me fits to a T. I was of course very happy and picked 2 designs I like to purchase. However she kept pushed me to buy 2 more and to get the member etc.

And when I declined nicely saying I dont really fancy those designs because I have something similar, her face blackened immediately. And that annoyed me. She tried 1 more time at pushing sales when I'm paying, and I told her frankly with a smile that I dont like those designs and if I like, I'll definitely buy and be a member straight away. Her face turned back black again. Duhz! What a disappointment in the abrupt drop in service level. A shame.

So anyway, do you know at least 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size? So dont be shy to ask for measurement assistance! It really helps. If you're really shy, read this to measure yourself; How to measure your bra size. Troublesome right?? Especially the measure cup size part. Let them measure for you la. Dont worry, they measure with your clothes(and of course bra) on!

Act cute. Bleh~

Mango Tango Mousse and Choc cake from Kungfu Paradise. They're OK....tasted pretty much like BakerzIn.

We continued shopping until it was time to go into Shaw to watch "Mirror Mirror" and rudely got a shock that the lifts werent working! We were at basement then! As the cinemas are located at level 4, we hurriedly rushed up all the ultra long elevators which were very crowded. We then noticed some of the escalators going down were malfunctioned. Hoards of people had to walk down the escalators. Aiyo.....the poor oldfolks!

As it was our first time catching a movie there, we dont know where is theater 6. I sprinted over to Shaw counters but was shocked to see the metal gate closing down with people queuing inside to buy tickets! Weird, it was only 7+pm! The gate finally stopped moving with a 80cm gap above the ground and anxious with my movie, I threw all demure pretense aside, squatted down and cranked my head to shout to the Shaw people inside, "where is theater 6???" A young boy squatted down too, cranked his head too and said to me, "It's right over here but you cant come in because this gate is closing!!"

I said, "WHATTTTTT????? WHYYYYYYY????"

At that very moment, the gate started coming down again and finally closed that 80cm gap with a deathlike THUD and bringing our conversation to an abrupt end. Wah lau!!! Machiam like those movie where the last words are exchanged between the survivors and the goners.

I was simply dumbfounded. You mean I cant watch my movie??? No way!!! My mind turning quickly, I remembered there was another door leading to the theaters. Thank god it wasnt locked and waving my tickets like mad, we made it through without being treated as trespassers. And thank god our movie only just started. =)

But our relief were short-lived......throughout the film....there was this stupid fire alarm which kept went off.... So it went Ringgggggggggggg ringggggggggggggg. Wah lauz!! Super turn off. Okie it finally stopped and we enjoyed our movie in peace..............until the last half an hour, where the show was at it's most intense moment......the movie simply stopped and a black screen greeted us. Like wtttttffffffff~~

All the audience simply began murmuring and sat in silence....waiting to be addressed. Yes, there was this boy in Shaw uniform but seeing how he scratched his head and spreading his hands wide apart...sigh. He dont have the answer either; that whether should we wait or should we leave. Tired of waiting, dearie went out to seek an answer and finally queued up for a refund.Shaw stuff replied saying we used credit card therefore we cant have refund. If I'm there, I surely scold him upside down. Pay by credit card not equivalent to money huh? Damn you! Initially he issued 2 movie passes but dearie rejected, saying what if the same problem happens at Jcube again. That staff finally issued dearie 4 movie passes instead. You know it's so stupid. We cant go watch the movie again because the first 1hour will be boring because we've watched it! And now we're stranded with an unknown ending and the feeling suckssssss! I know this is probably not Shaw's fault as the whole Jcube had a power breakdown. But tough luck okie! You need to compensate!

Ratings(watched only 3/4 of the show): 3.8/4
Comments: It's not bad lah, could be funnier. I adore Julia Roberts in the show. She's so cute and funny! All the furnishings, costumes etc in the show were so princessy and opulent. Nice. =) Because Snow White is so legendary, it's funny how dearie and I commented Lily Collins seems not fair enough at the same time. I do find her pretty, just that the makeup kinda thick but dearie said she's still not pretty enough to be Snow White. Acting out a legendary character can be so difficult huh~ =X

And I suddenly thought of Emily Browning(in Sleeping Beauty and Sucker Punch), she seems really fair enough to be Snow White. Then dearie said, "Ya, but she cant act." Pengz!

Wow! Love her complexion manz! But I'm not going to watch this show lah. The trailer couldnt be more boring.

Although it was only 9pm....but the mall was 90% closed as most dont have electricity. Managed to grab some food to eat before heading home. It was kinda warm too because the aircon dont work too.

Pique Nique, sounds like picnic. You'll love them if you love breakfasts because they serve them all day!
Dearie's white wine prawns pasta: though they're not glass prawns, there were at least 7 prawns. Tasted not bad
My Breakfast: Erm...was it Long Island Breakfast? Sorry kinda forgot the name but they were delicious. Definitely better than Wild Honey(which I totally dont understand what's the crave about...). The bacon strips were kinda miserly though and I was slightly disappointed that my poached eggs werent as runny as I love them to.... Hmm.....maybe I'll add a note next time that I want my yolks to be totally runny. But actually....isnt that understood? =P You can request for sunny-side-up or omelettes if you want too. At $12, it's very economical. The dessert, mango madness is not impressive.

Thus end my Jcube experience. Still a happy girl because it's the company that matters. =) But Jcube, buck up!!!

Hairstyles can change your look...totally

It has been a long time since I've updated my blog with pictures. Here are some updates on how I'm shrivelling. Other than gaining 1 kg from last night's sinful JB feast, I've changed a new hair colour last month. I was loving the milk-tea colour(left pic below) until it got washed out to this...like hazel-brown colour(right pic below)? =( I did use L'oreal colour-protecting shampoo but still.......... Well...I'm thankful that I still like my current hair colour lah....provided it stops changing colour again. (=.=)'''''''''''

I have really dark charcoal black brows so I actually have to bleach them so that it matches my hair. Of course, some sparse parts got to be filled in with the same shade of eyebrow powder/pencil too.

Hmm....as trivial as this may sound...lately, I've changed the way I wear my hair. Instead of wearing them as above, I simply separate my hair into 2 parts and secured both left and right side with matching clips(right pic below). It's super easy to do and merely take seconds. There's no need for hairspray or anything, simply pushed them slightly upwards for some volume and clipped in place. There's no need to be too neat about it. After that, pull some strands off your left and right temples to soften the look. They can alter your face shape to be slimmer too.

I actually didnt think of it as a big thing since it's just merely adding 2 clips to my hair; not as if I permed my hair or anything. But I received compliments that I look younger, more demure, this look suits me more etc etc, which earned very odd looks from me. It's not that I'm not happy that I look younger, who wouldnt? But I dont wish to look too far apart from my age. I'm 30 this year and I'm happy enough if people thought I'm 27 or so but not younger than 25 please! And demure? Errr......it's so not me. However, looking at my 2 pics side by side, and no wonder, I do look different. In comparison to the decent look on the right, the previous me kinda look....so..... argghhhh. Actually I've always minded that people has this very wrong impression of me that I'm a flirt or player those kinda stuff. I even have friends commenting that I look like a kept woman or some mafia leader's woman. ZzZzzZz So I'm very much consoled that simply by adding 2 clips to my hair, I can actually....well....minimize such wrong perceptions.

I also love this hairstyle by StyleSuzi, which she wears everyday. It's kinda similar to mine. However, it's more troublesome. As the clips are clipped at a much lower position as mine, it's more difficult to create volume. Therefore, unless you have very voluminous hair, you'll need to tease your hair and apply hairspray etc just like her to achieve this look.

So do consider changing your hairstyle time to time, to your preference. I rather think it's fun. If I'm younger, I'll definitely be braiding my hair in lots of sweet styles like bubzbeauty. They're so sweet and feminine. Yah, again, not me.

Just too bad I'm not that young. Though it's extremely tempting as it's super hot these days. Maybe I'll try one day. Wagagagaga. =P

And to the drunk friend who totally lost himself weeks ago and even told me, "I read your blog, you think too much."

I think too much? It's my business, it's my blog okie. I like to write my thoughts on my blog and if you think I think too much, you can buzz off. Nobody force you to read okie~ 莫名其妙

(P/S I'll update about our Jcube power failure experience tomorrow.)

Short post

I feel like dying these few days. =( Previously I was plagued by this persistent cough. Super ke lian lor, cant have cold drinks and desserts. =~( And after it finally stopped, I developed this sorethroat which makes even the swallowing of saliva painful. Then no chilli and tom yum soup. =~( After a round of antibiotics, I had to go back for a second visit because I didnt recover. And the 2nd round of medicine makes me feel like dying. I'm like half-dead most of the time after the medicine took effect. Breathlessness, giddiness, nausea. Really feel like skipping them! But if I dont take them, my throat wont recover. =( So I actually reduced the dosage to be more alive. God...let me get well the soonest!

Comments: Let's face it. The guys love these flicks. I find this sequel amusing, and not in a very disgusting way, thank god! For I dont appreciate the part 1 very much. =.= Anyway, the part where the main lead(married man) rejected the 18year old super-willing-horny virgin pretty lass was so unbelievable. Seriously, in that situation(semi-nakedness splendor), really? A guy will reject? Reaaaaallllllllyyyyyy?

Movie Reviewssss

Ratings: 4.5/5
Watched this on Funshion. A very sweet and romantic comedy! Initially wasnt drawn to a China production, however I was pleasantly surprised. Love the dialogue, story and cast. Super funny. :D Li Bing Bing is still so glamorous and sexy at 39 years old!! Wow! I wish I can stay the same when I reach that age too. =P Ahhhh......was wondering guys who cook nowadays are so rare!

Ratings: 2.5/5
Comments: To be fair, I wasnt enjoying the movie very much mostly because we're seated at the middle of the theater. Actually it wasnt close to the screen as there's still quite a distance but heed me, you MUST watch this movie within the first few rows from the back. Because most digital graphics are HUGE and as a result, I cant view the movie properly. The story is kinda stupid to start with and end, no twist, not much thrills and even the new characters lack depth and creativity. Totally inferior to part 1. Erm and I dont find the Perseus very good-looking, he has neither the air nor poise of a demi-god nor a hero. The X factor is missing. It pretty much feel like a fisherman has saved the universe, sorry to say huh. A very boring show unless you're a sucker for digital graphics.

Ratings: 3.8/5
Comments: It started off slow and gradually got better. I actually expected more creative game stuff and thrills because it's a "hunger game". Hmm....overall still a nice show. Jennifer Lawrence's acting was great. It's not easy to portray Katniss Everdeen, a character with depth, courage, attitude and love but masked by a layer of aloofness, indifference and cynic. Hey Kristen Stewart, please stash away your wide-eyed, open-mouthed spastic, horny look and learn! Duhz, I saw the trailer for her new movie and amazingly, her "classic" blank expression was there for every single scene. ZzZzz

I seldom watch Mediacorp's productions but 摆家乐(Home Decor, hosted by Bryan Wong & Mark Lee) and the above mentioned 国记交意所 are my favorites. The latter is hosted by Mark Lee and it's a very interesting talkshow as a bunch foreigners, like Koreans, Americans, Germans etc, staying in Singapore share their understanding of Singapore culture as well as their own home culture/customs. It's extremely informative and not to mention, exceedingly hilarious when they speak in their half-past-six Chinese. Haha So adorable. Hmm Sad to say, I missed alot of it's episodes...wonder where can I view them properly and fully? I know youtube got alot but it's all in a mess of "dissected" parts.

Have a good laugh on this April Fool's Day!! =)
