Appealing for witness for robbery on 10th Dec 2013 or earlier near York Hill Estate, near Chin Swee Road

Sorry for the absence. My dad, Lim Lay Hock, was assaulted and robbed, most probably on the 10th Dec or slightly earlier.  We're not sure where he was robbed but most probably near his home at York Hill Estate near Chin Swee Road, opp Outram Sec Sch.

He was hospitalized in SGH on 10th Dec and just passed away on the 20th Dec. We were all deeply grieved by it because it was an unnatural death..... Was so emotionally and physically drained. :(

We're currently appealing for witness, please kindly share and spread if possible. I will be most grateful!!

To the robber who assaulted my dad and caused his death, I really dont understand how you can beat up a 60 year old man so severely and live the rest of your life. Really urge all to be more careful because Sg is no longer safe. My dad's collarbone was broken, suffered a fracture of ribs which punctured his lungs, with head injuries. All these triggered pneumonia/stroke/heart attack. He passed away after 10 days of coma. The killer is still at large, enjoying his Xmas with my dad's valuables. Anyone with any info in regards to seeing my dad being robbed, please kindly contact me. We're not really sure where he was being robbed but we believe it's near his home at York Hill Estate near Chin Swee Road, opp Outram Sec Sch, on the 10th Dec or earlier. Deeply appreciate if you can share. Lastly, it will be good if you can educate your old folks not to wear valuables when they are out alone(ya some dont listen, but just try). And pls pls go hospital and call police immediately after being attacked because it's easy to underestimate the injuries. It was really stupid of me, initially I put up dad's picture at the wake because that's the only one I have.

So many kind souls commented to send us their condolences. I'm so deeply touched! The post also have few hundreds shares. BUT, I thought that picture dont look like dad and I wished to change to the recent photo of his. Unable to find that option, I deleted the picture, thinking I can replace the picture. But the WHOLE POST got DELETED without warning. So damn angry with myself!!

Lastly, I thank everyone who had messaged me in one way or another and friends who came down to the wake. Most of you look so tired, I felt so sorry and yet so touched at the same time. Love you all!!

McDonald’s Burgers “Unfit for human consumption”

Hamburger chef Jamie Oliver has won his long-fought battle against one of the largest fast food chains in the world – McDonalds. After Oliver showed how McDonald’s hamburgers are made, the franchise finally announced that it will change its recipe, and yet there was barely a peep about this in the mainstream, corporate media.

Oliver repeatedly explained to the public, over several years – in documentaries, television shows and interviews – that the fatty parts of beef are “washed” in ammonium hydroxide and used in the filling of the burger. Before this process, according to the presenter, the food is deemed unfit for human consumption. According to the chef and hamburger enthusiast, Jamie Oliver, who has undertaken a war against the fast food industry, “Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold in the cheapest way for dogs, and after this process, is being given to human beings.”

Besides the low quality of the meat, the ammonium hydroxide is harmful to health. Oliver famously coined this the “the pink slime process.”

“Why would any sensible human being put meat filled with ammonia in the mouths of their children?” Oliver asked.

In one of his colorful demonstrations, Oliver demonstrates to children how nuggets are made. After selecting the best parts of the chicken, the remains (fat, skin and internal organs) are processed for these fried foods.

In the United States, however, Burger King and Taco Bell had already abandoned the use of ammonia in their products. The food industry uses ammonium hydroxide as an anti-microbial agent in meats, which has allowed McDonald’s to use otherwise “inedible meat.”

Most disturbing of all is the horrifying fact that because ammonium hydroxide is considered part of the “component in a production procedure” by the USDA, consumers may not know when the chemical is in their food.

A businessman in Nigeria died after being raped by five of six wives. According to the Daily Mail, Uroko Onoja partied at a bar in Ugbugbu, Nigeria until the wee hours of the morning in July. When he returned home, he decided to have sex with his youngest wife. However, his five other wives became jealous and barged into his master bedroom. The women were armed with knives and sticks and began attacking Onoja. They eventually forced Onoja to have sex with them as well. He had sex with four of his wives in a row. But once the fifth wife approached to have sex with Onoja, he stopped breathing and eventually died. The five wives who forced Onoja to have sex ran into the woods. Two of the women have been arrested and charged with murder and rape. Onoja was a prominent member of the Ugbugbu community.

Fourteen men have been charged in court with having commercial sex with a 17-year-old girl. 

Ten of them have indicated today that they would plead guilty, while one has claimed trial.

The men, aged between 22 and 75 years old, allegedly paid the girl between $40 and $150 for sexual services at budget hotels and a lodging house in Geylang between May 18 and 31 this year.

In Hong Kong, different colour coded warning means different actions required for different sectors. Most of the time, thunder storm warning applies more to certain sectors like swimming pools, construction sites and most importantly, to kindergartens and schools operations. If it is Red storm warning, kindergartens will be closed and kids are not expected to go to school. If it is Black storm warning, most schools will be closed. It would also possibly means that flooding will occur.

Now, can you imagine kids and young teenagers to go to school under the situation shown below? It is actually pretty dangerous for youngsters to be caught in such situation.  

Before some ignorant people start to accuse me for nitpicking PAP government, let me put it straight, with the huge amount of money we have spent in setting up our weather monitoring system catered to our airport which is one of the most busiest airport in the world, we are definitely adequately equipped to provide such weather warning system for public service. If Hong Kong can do it, I don't think we are any inferior to them. 

Hong Kong could even predict typhoon path one week in advanced and put up necessary weather warnings in advanced but we do not require that in Singapore. What we need is just a few hours advanced warning to Singaporeans and schools to make the necessary preparations. 

We in fact have such advanced warning system in place but it is a paid service. For those in the army, you would know that you can call in for weather advanced forecast. They use Cat system. Even when there is no storm, you could well get a Cat 5 for presence of thunder.

Thus, the most important question is, why is PAP government reluctant to provide such advanced coded weather warning to the public? Don't they care about our young children at all? Since huge public money has been spent on various advanced weather monitoring equipment, including weather satellites and such, we should demand the PAP government to provide such FREE PUBLIC SERVICE that serves to prevent unnecessary injuries and worse, loss of lives and property. 

Why would we risk the lives of our students to get to school but in the end, finding their schools or lecture halls being flooded like the ones in NUS? Or like those students ended up like this at their school?

I would urge the PAP government stop being crowded with such a Third World mentally and start to take the welfare of our citizens seriously. After spending millions in weather monitoring system, we deserve better public service from the weather system, not just some ambiguous announcement and warning which means nothing at all. We need to set up a proper categorized and colour coded weather warning system to protect our citizens, particularly our students from being exposed unnecessarily to the dangers of adverse weather.

It may affect some of our economic activities and lower our economic growth a little, but the safety of our citizens' lives is more than growth digits.

China’s ‘Green Tea Girls’ – love them or hate them

She has the innocent face of an angel, complete with a creamy complexion, beautiful silky long hair and perfect skin. But under that unambitious and pure looking facade lies a climber of the social ladder and a gold digging monster whose main goal is to snag a rich boyfriend or husband.

In China, this woman is known as a 绿茶婊 (lu cha biao) or Green Tea B*tch -- a derogatory term that has been spreading like wildfire on Chinese social networking site Weibo, as well as online news portals.

The term first appeared online when angry netizens read about "sex parties" in Sanya, Hainan -- attended by rich, second-generation young men driving super cars and gold-digging "models".

Shanghai Daily reported allegations about a party where the "models" were paid US$97,000 for participating in three-night sex parties where over 2,000 condoms were used per party.

The male participants? Allegedly members of China's Sports Car Club, super rich young men who own at least a Porsche Carrera 911 and who can fork out an RMB10,000 membership fee a year, or half the annual income of an urban resident in China.

The scandal sparked off the term "Green Tea B*tches", typified by the girl-like, innocent looks favoured by these models.

Contradicting characteristics

According to netizens, additional attributes of these Green Tea ladies are that they work hard to appear like they have virtually no make-up on to convey an "untouched" look and like to pose with sad or vulnerable expressions which encourage protective feelings in unsuspecting men.

"The Green Tea B*tch loves to adopt a wide-eyed look, and will stare at other people, especially men, with doe-eyed expressions. Next to men, she will appear bubbly and lively but if she is with women, she will be sullen and bored," reads a popular "Green Tea List" circulating on Weibo.com.

"She needs to be really artful with her makeup skills, so despite her wearing a lot of foundation, men will somehow say she looks barefaced and natural," states another bizarre "list" that has received over 1,000 likes.

"Pretending to be simple and pretty to the point of hypocrisy," another China netizen said, summing up the Green Tea B*tch.

Beijing-born model Sun Jing Ya, 25, is one of those who have been branded with the term.

Her Baidu profile lists her hobbies as "shopping, listening to music, and travelling to Paris" while her favourite brands are Chanel, Dior and luxury skincare brand La Prairie.

Sun says her friends see her as a "romantic, positive, carefree and active" person.

While her skimpy barely-there outfits and dreamy posts, which muse on the meaning of life may have gotten the men intrigued, Sun has been the target of hate campaigns online. Netizens are saying that she is with a man who has a had a sex change, and most recently, as being HIV-positive.

Chinese micro-blogger Xiao Tuan Zhang is also one of those accused of being a two-faced Green Tea Girl by netizens …

Despite all the vitriol and hate directed towards the Green Tea Girls, China's netizens can't get enough of them -- on Instagram, many have upwards of 60,000 followers who frequently make rude comments on their self-taken sexy-kitten photos but still feverishly follow their lives with morbid interest.

Variants of Green Tea Girls

The term has spawned off a whole new sub-culture of slang used to describe different women.

The "Coffee B*tch" is used to describe high-end office ladies who like to speak in a mix of English and Chinese and love taking photos of themselves enjoying the high life.

The "Black Tea B*tch" on the other hand, is a rougher version of her Green Tea counterparts, applying thick eye make-up, and openly smoking and drinking while wearing revealing clothes.

Finally, the "Milk Tea B*tch" is typified by a woman who talks in a child-like lisp and affects a generous and giving nature to everyone around her with the aim of attracting men who will shower attention and gifts on her.

Construction costs of public housing are deliberately omitted out in every price list of the HDB’s latest Build-to-order (BTO) flats. Like the cooling off day and all other weird PAP practices, the reason is again political. Imagine how ugly the PAP will look if Singaporeans know how much profits a publicly funded statutory board like the HDB is profiting off a 25 year long mortgage debt of ordinary citizens with one of the lowest domestic purchasing power among developed countries [Source]. Then again, just look at how benevolent and generous PAP is with their HDB grants when construction costs are disregarded and the market price benchmark is adopted instead. It is no wonder the PAP can claim that HDB is bleeding so much that they are $1 Billion poorer every year from “helping” Singaporeans [Source].

Leaving the topic of poor domestic purchasing power for another day, the focus is of this article is to provide a close estimate of how much profits HDB is earning per unit flat.

Chinese girl singing KTV gets electrocuted by mic and dies

A girl was electrocuted to death by her microphone while at a KTV parlour in China on Tuesday.

Li Lingyu, 21, was reportedly singing Taiwanese band Shin's song 'Even In Death I'll Love (死了都要爱)' when she suddenly collapsed onto the sofa.

According to Dongbei Net, Lingyu also dropped her mic and three classmates who tried to help her all received electric shocks when they touched her.

Another classmate who had been holding on to another mic was also shocked, and became half-numb and temporarily paralyzed.

When Lingyu arrived at the local hospital, she was not breathing neither did she have any pulse. She was pronounced dead.

Chinese bride-to-be, 23, dies 'from massive electric shock while answering her iPhone 5

Tragic: Ma Ailun, 23, a former flight attendant with China Southern Airlines, died when she picked up her iPhone as it charged at home on Thursday, her family said. Ma often took pictures of herself with her phone and posted them online (above)

Miss Ma, who was due to marry in August, was said to have bought her iPhone 5 in December from an official store in her home town in Xinjiang province.

There were also safety warnings about the millions of cheap copycat phones and chargers on the market. Apple products sell out quickly in China, the demand fuelling the factories churning out fake iPhones, iPads and iPods.

In 2011, 22 fake Apple stores were uncovered in one Chinese city, Kunming, alone.

Apple promised to investigate the death – a blow for the technology company in its second largest market after the US.

Her sister then wrote on social networking site Weibo: 'I want to warn everyone else not to make phone calls when your mobile phone is recharging.'

She said Ma had bought the iPhone in December at an official Apple store and was using the original charger to recharge the phone when the incident occurred.

Chinese Couple Having Sex By Window Fall to Their Deaths

A couple fell to their deaths after a window they were having sex against gave way in China.

Recently, a netizen revealed that because the weather is so hot in Wuhan, it led to a couple broadcasting a “romance action film” [having sex] by the window to keep cool. Unfortunately, these two didn’t seem to notice the window was of poor quality in their moment of pleasure. Just as they were in the throes of passion, the window suddenly broke and the two of them falling out the building and died, leading to an irreversible tragedy. However, the source and authenticity of this incident has yet to be verified.

According to the netizen, it seems the couple didn’t notice the windows were in poor condition in their moment of pleasure. Just as the female climaxed and involuntarily arched her back, the windows broke, and she lost balance. With the two of them holding each other tight, they fell out of the building.

Chinese Woman Crushes Husband and Her Own Head While Parking

According to Qianjiang Evening News, the newly-qualified driver was practicing the manoeuvre in her Lexus RX270 SUV when she accidentally backed up too far, pinning he husband against the wall.

Hearing his screams of agony, she put her head out of the window. 

Then, panicking, she slammed her foot on the accelerator to pull away.

But tragically she forgot to change gears and was still in reverse. 

The move not only killed her husband instantly, but she also killed herself – her head hitting nearby wall as she accelerated.

Baby dies after mother throws it from China building

A newborn baby girl died in China after her mother threw out of the window of a block of flats, the latest in a series of infanticide cases that have appalled the Chinese public and reignited debate about the country's one child policy.

Surveillance footage aired by a local TV station showed a bag containing the newborn plummeting to the road outside the building in the north-eastern city of Harbin. After hitting the ground, it was run over by a car.

The mother, identified by the local state Shenghuo Newspaper as an 18-year-old hairdresser with the surname Zhang, had given birth on Tuesday in the bathroom of a flat she shared with some 10 people.

Soon after the delivery she walked to a window between the second and third floors of the building and threw out the newborn.

It was not immediately clear whether the baby died upon impact with the road or when it was crushed by the vehicle.

But when a security guard noticed the bloodstained sack and called the police, the child was no longer breathing.

In May, the nation was horrified by the case of Baby 59, who was dropped down a toilet pipe by her mother in the eastern province of Zhejang. The child survived, however, and the incident was later declared accidental.

Sad....and good to know; Baby Breastfed By Vegan Mother Dies

An 11 month old baby exclusively breastfed by a vegan mother has died and the parents are charged with neglect after an autopsy indicated the baby suffered from deficiencies in vitamin B12 and Vitamin A – both known to be critical to a child’s development.

Vegans have long been advised to take B12 supplements as long term veganism runs the huge risk of serious B12 deficiency as well as other nutrients only found in animal foods such as true Vitamin A.  Beta carotene is nottrue vitamin A nor does it easily convert to adequate amounts of Vitamin A in the body.

While I’m not sure I favor charging the parents in this tragedy as it smacks of Big Brother far too much for my comfort level, it does communicate a clear message to other vegans:  abstinence from all animal foods is a danger to one’s health and most particularly, your baby!

It also sends a clear message that what a breastfeeding Mother eats definitely DOES affect the quality of her breastmilk. Many breastfeeding advocates insist that breastmilk will include all a baby needs despite what the Mother eats, but clearly this is not the case.

Traditional cultures took great care to ensure that pregnant and breastfeeding mothers consumed ample amounts of animal foods rich in vitamins A, D, E, K and of course B12. These foods included grassfed butter, pastured eggs, liver, seafood, and fish eggs. Notice that none – NOT ONE of these traditionally sacred foods is plant based!
