Happy Chinese New Year 2013!!!

Wishing everyone a great Snakey year with abundant wealth, health and love!!! Always be happy (but preferably not at the expanse of others' happiness)!!!

I just heard a very sad story of a hubby divorcing his wife of 10plus years. And the tragic thing was the wive totally didnt expect it coming because the husband was behaving like perfectly normal all this while. And the horrible part was the wive had to know the real reason of the divorce through the neighbour....

"Very sorry to hear about your divorce....sigh.....actually we didnt find it surprising...because we saw him bring a lady back home few times during lunch hour already...Everytime she came with dry hair and then leave few hours later with wet hair....but well...we're also not in a position to comment anything....."

Which calls to mind....if it's you, will you say?

When I heard this story....especially the part where the unfaithful husband totally showed no signs of disaffection....I asked, "Is he a Virgo?"

"Wah!!! How you know??? Got so accurate or not???!!!"

Of course!!!! Me expert leh. In horoscopes I mean. Lol. Anyway, I'm very glad that lady has moved on. :) Such a guy is totally not worth it.

Huat ah!!!! :D

KS and Lin's Wedding at St Andrew's Cathedral & Carlton Hotel

It was my dearest Lin's big day on 2nd Feb 2013!!! Other than the evening banquet at Carlton Hotel, I'm also very honored to be invited to her church wedding at St Andrew's Cathedral earlier that day on 4pm. =D  It was my first time attending a church wedding!! Haha. Upon arriving, I joined Jes, James and Jas to sit down. Talk about being surrounded by "J"s. =P And Jes informed me that we got to sing later. I was like, "What???!!!" Lol.

Beautiful, serene and blissful

Everytime I attend weddings of my very close friends....whenever they walked down the aisle....or exchanged vows....I will feel my nose getting "sour" and eyes getting watery. The feeling is just indescribable., especially I'm the one who introduced them. =D Sigh...I'm just a super sentimental and emo person. *wipes tears with hanky* Oh and initially I meant to intro Lin to Fab(my friend)....but Fab brought KS(whom I didnt know then yet) along....and somehow....you know.....Lol.....God has a amazing way of arrangement. =) Kekeke. They wanna give me matchmaker angbao somemore! Hahaha! Mummy superstitious, say I must take or else not good for me. =O I told them dont put more than $2 inside or I wont accept. Lol. Anyway, Fab is also happily attached now so I think I will also be receiving his red bomb pretty soon! And during the reciting of vows, Lin got very emotional and started to tear......I teared too... (blush blush) In fact...few of the bridesmaid teared too. It was such a touching and poignant moment.

After the exchanging of vows and rings, the pastor began to share his speech on holy matrimony. Instead of feeling bored, I felt very enlightened by his words. It's as if, a great deal of burden just lifted off my shoulders, stress left my body and brain...and suddenly it seems somethings or problems are not as difficult or serious as it seems. One of the most enlightening speech the pastor shared was, "All of us are imperfect and different. Because we are brought up in different environments. Focus on each other's strengths. Focus on his strengths and dont always focus on his shortcomings." And I suddenly thought of dearie...of the quarrel we had earlier We had made up of course, before Lin's wedding. I'm never a petty person who holds grudges but sometimes, cant help feeling disappointed at him for his...well....yes...short-comings. But like the pastor said, why keep emphasizing on his flaws instead of noticing his strengths? Anyway.....every relationship or marriage has it's own challenges and we just have to fine-tune them. =)

Jes wasnt joking. We really need to sing. It was such an embarrassing moment as I fumbled with the...ahhh......booklet to search for the page where the lyrics are....haha. Light reception followed and with the 3 J's, we went to Gravity Bar at Carlton to chill before attending the dinner banquet.

It was great catching up as we haven seen each other for such a long time. And we will be catching up soon before CNY ends. =D

Lin looked so radiant, pretty and happy in her smashing gown with a long train. Felt so happy for them! Enjoyed the banquet too. I thought the service was good and food was pretty good too. I had double servings for almost every dish. Lol. Well, with just 1 exception, the tea smoked chicken wasnt to my liking. Well, nothing is perfect, I did not think much of it. =) But Lin told me the hotel's manager's attitude was absolutely rude and horrible as soon as the bills were signed!

Talking about signing....now that the matrimony papers were signed.....KS, you better treat Lin well, or.....hng hng hng..............

Haha Okie lah, I know he will treat her very very well, for Lin is quite the nicest person I ever know. Treating everyone with kindness without expecting anything in return and always placing other people's needs before her own! I'm truly blessed to have a friend like her and I hope we girls will enjoy everlasting friendship even after we have kids(if any) or become super fat-ass aunties!!!!(I'm already half way there....sobs sobs....)

For Note 2: Baby pink jelly casing with mirror

I received numerous compliments and interesting comments on my Note 2 casing. Haha! Saying how cute it is! So decided to share here.

My design is the pink one! With the lollipop!! It's a jelly case! And what's so special about it?? The lollipop is actually 3D and protruding so that you can slide the cover of it to reveal a round MIRROR!!! Hahaha!! What else I love about it is: because the lollipop mirror is protruding in a 3D way, the phone wont lie flat in contact with a table(it will appear as if the phone is suspended in the air, just maybe 0.5cm from the the table), thus it wont muffle the speaker which is located on the bottom of the phone. So I can still listen to my music effectively. Also, when I'm outside and the table is kinda not very clean, it also keeps the pink jelly case clean as only the plastic and dirt-proof lollipop touches the table. In addition, as it's jelly case, removal is effortless. To me, it's still pretty light-weight. Weighs around the same as those covers with flap. Only bad point is it cant charge when phone is in the case, need to remove the case to charge properly.

I got it from this seller at qoo10.sg.

*Edited* January favorites 2013

Hmmm.............I cant sleep. =(

Just have a quick entry to share some of my favorite beauty products. I've always wanted to do this but didnt really have the time or bother to have the effort to do it. Sometimes when I come across a product which is extremely outstanding or food which is really delicious, I really feel like blogging about it. Dont you feel so sometimes? =) Hopefully I can do this consistently every month. Opps. Okie, this is the new year 2013 February. Perhaps we can backdate abit and name it January Favorites. =P

To start off, I would like to say I wont mention some of the all-time holy-grail beauty products, like, Urban Decay's Primer Potion or it's NAKED palette etc(I love them too =), or products which I've mentioned before in some entries. Because they will be nothing new. Instead, I always love to discover new products. The feeling is like discovering a rare gem and it feels great.

Holika Holika - Luminous Silk Aura Highlighter

The reason why I picked this up was mainly because of it's beige colour highlighter on the right; because I felt that my Shu Uemura's highlighter powder was overly stark white despite being a little shimmery. With Holika Holika - Luminous Silk Aura Highlighter, I love to use the beige highlighter during daytime and I wouldnt look "over" or too "made-up". I seldom like to touch up for fear of making my makeup thicker so I love to use this to highlight my nose bridge, fore-head, brow-bone, chin and under the eyes to brighten up my face. It's effect is extremely flattering as it simply gives a natural glow and lends a 3D effect; makes your features more distinct. In short, if I need to choose whether to bring my face powder or this highlighter out in a classy-but-extremely-small pouch, I will bring this highlighter. It's a must-have. It's extremely pigmented so there's a need to use this with a small fluffy brush with a very light hand. Start from the middle of under-your-eye before you swipe left and right again. Can use the white highlighter at night. The pink one can lend a  sweet pinkish glow to your cheeks and nose tip but do be moderate. It's not very lasting though, touch-ups are needed. - Holika Holika has a counter in Wisma.

Extreme right : ZA - Total hydration Moist(not Fresh) Lucent Toner

Initially I bought this for my face. Then I realized after I applied it, my face got extremely oily after awhile. It's simply too much for my oily-combination skin. So instead of throwing it away which is a waste, I apply it to my body. HAHAHA. This is my style: everytime a facial product doesnt work on my face, I will apply it to the neck, if not, to my body. And I was really really pleasantly surprised. I have very very dry skin(body) as I usually stay in air-conditioned for more than 12hours. They're so dry that I will feel pain if I dont moisturize them enough. =( Dont you think God loves playing me around.....he gives me a F*up face which has more than enough oil but a body with skin so dry that it hurts. =~( That's why I have the habit to apply moisturizer every night; not that I'm diligent but simply because I've no choice. Frankly speaking, I think I apply more stuff to my body than my face....which I simply bo chup...  Sadly, not many body lotions can hydrate my skin well; they only leave a slight greasy feeling behind. With ZA - Total hydration Moist Lucent Toner, my skin actually feels hydrated, soft and very smooth. Best thing, it doesnt leave any sticky feeling behind, AT ALL. The bad point will be, because it's liquid, it tends to drip but I'll just use it anyway. It's so cheap too! It's always better to follow up with an oil-based moisturizer after that to lock in the water-based nutrients but usually I'm too lazy to do that.

On Left: Organia - Relaxing Olive Body Cleanser

As I've mentioned, I have very dry skin so I'm extremely particular with my body wash. The above-mentioned is one of my favorite body cleansers that doesnt dry out my skin further like the others. I've lost count of the number of bottles which I've used. Smells great too. It costs around S$19.90 in stores like BHG and Robinsons. The shampoo from the same range is pretty good too(giant bottle); a very luxurious and relaxing shampoo for dry hair, which I use time to time.

Marc Anthony - Brilliant Colour Shampoo

As the name suggests, it protects your hair colour. I cant comment this is the best around because frankly speaking I haven tried many. I only know the red-colour-bottled colour-protecting shampoo from L'oreal sucks, because after using it, I saw with my own eyes that my brown hair has few strands that turned golden. Freaked me out. At least this one from Marc Anthony doesnt, and is reasonably suitable for my oily scalp cum dry coloured hair. - Available at Watson, below S$20.

The Face Shop - Blemish Zero Bubble foam cleanser

I have sensitive and acne-prone skin and I read that foam cleanser suits the most; more so one with anti-blemish properties, mineral oil/alchol and artifical colarant free. And this cleanser, with it's anti-blemish formula does reduce my occurrence of break-outs significantly. What's great about it it leaves skin feeling clean, very soft and smooth instead of drying the face out like other anti-acne products. It's gentle enough to be used everyday too. Very highly recommended. Quite 1 of the best cleansers I've tried. And it costs around S$20 only.

Origins - Out of Trouble Mask

You might have heard of this product before. It is 1 of the 3 masks(100ml each) which I purchased in a Christmas Gift pack for S$60. I feel it's very worth it. And it's my favorite among the 3. As the name suggests, just 10minutes on your face, it calms redness and sensitivity and helps to diminish/eliminate pimples which threatens to pop out on the face. It's a great emergency mask just before a dinner. But...the smell of this mask is really strong......like those chinese medicated smell. However, it's only there when you're applying it.

I'm gonna add in 1 item which I hate for every monthly favorites. =P  And for this month..........it will be..........

January Most Hated Product 2013

Mario Badescu - Vitamin C Serum

I first heard about it on Jen's monthly favorites and she claimed it helps to lighten her pigmentation/acne scars considerably. I dont know what possessed me but I really went to get it at Sephora at a whooping S$138. What's best is I didnt test it at all because I was in a hurry. There wasnt a tester then. And I got extremely annoyed after I'm home as I realized it's has such a oily liquid texture. What's worse??!! It smells like oil too!! Argghhh. Nevermind, I did still try it but it didnt lighten any of my imperfections at all. But it's smell has almost nearly suffocate me to death. Now, I use it as a cuticle oil on my FEET because that's the furthest it can get away from me. I can now boast that I use a S$100+ cuticle oil for my feet. *Rolls eyes* I forcedurged dearie to use it on his feet's cuticles too and he, who is the least sensitive to smells, also commented, "Hmm....why your this oil smells so weird.....not nice...." Hahaha. One of the most unworthy investment of all times.

Okie, that's enough for now......hope you all enjoyed...... Will do February favorites soon.

Movie Title: Ah Boys to men 2

Love her in the way she prefers, not yours.

I have been listening to FM class 95 for like most of the past 6 years. Not because I think it's awesome with it's standard playlist but simply because my husband likes to play it's station when we're in his car.

1 particular quote recording has been annoying me time to time whenever it's repeated in between breaks. It goes something like...

"Just because someone didnt love you in the way you want, doesnt mean he doesnt love you with all he have(or his heart etc)."

It's been repeated again and again, again and again, again and again, again and again, again and again, again and again. AS IF it's a golden phrase or 至理名言 like that.

Finally for the 5th time I heard it, irritably, I simply said aloud;

"Why should I be loved in the way other people prefer INSTEAD of the way I prefer? You love someone, you love him or her in the way HE/SHE prefers. Not yours."

I had more than 1 relationship and I'm one who appreciates everyone who had loved me in his own way. I prefer to blame it on fate and whatsoever which tore us apart.  But still.....from the few relationships that I had, other than realizing your flaws must match his fortes(vice versa, for e.g, if you're very bad-tempered, then he must be super good-tempered etc), I also realized that he or she must love you in the way YOU prefer.

I once had a relationship that didnt work out. I was like only 18 then. I had a much older BFF Stacey at 26 years old. Very sad, lost contact with her. =( She encouraged me on that very rocky relationship and commented on how sweet my then bf was. And I dubiously commented, "Huh he's sweet?? He was sooooo weird! He didnt want to share any food with me and only prefer to eat my leftovers!"

"That's how he's showing his love for you, my dear." Stacey told me.

"Huh??!! Seriously??!!?" I was so perplexed.

Eventually the relationship didnt work out as I was convinced that he didnt love me that much by the things he did and the things he didnt do. And I supposed I did the same, which led to his lack of enthusiasm in the relationship. It's so puzzling to me when he kept emphasizing that I dont love him when I did indeed loved him very much then. Vice versa, he kept emphasized he loved me but I dont believe him at all. Now I realized, we simply did not love each other in the way we individually preferred.

Love her in the way she prefers.

Love him in the way he prefers.

Not your way.

It's no use loving her in the way you prefer and the way you acknowledged when she dont understands or acknowledge it at all.

Perhaps this verse might have been familiar. By a concerned friend maybe, or another guy who truly cares for you;

"He dont love you for god's sake!! All those sweet-nothings, all those flowers, all those branded bags. Is he ever around when you need him?? He's not!! I'm the one who loves you!!" But let me share another story.

I have a close girlfriend who is always very candid to me and I really like that. She said that she told her then-boyfriend-now-hubby that she wanted at least a 1 carat diamond proposal ring or she will not say yes. Her then-boyfriend, who can well afford the ring, lamented in a jokking tone, "You very materialistic leh." Then she explained to him, as well as to me, that, if a man is willing to splurge his hard-earned money on you, willing to part with that sum of money just to make you happy, then that must be love. For if he loves himself more, he will prefer to spend that money on himself instead of on you."

I nodded my head in agreement. It does make some sense. And so I do agree to a certain extent.

And I'm glad the boyfriend didnt fly into a rage judging my friend for being superficial or love him for his money etc etc. He always buy her expensive birthday presents and buys her things she want. Eventually he planned a super romantic proposal and proposed with a 1.28carat of gigantic rock. Lol. The pair are so loving and are as happy as lovebirds. =)

He choose to love her in the way she prefers. That I think, is really true love.

Often we heard couples quarrel, especially when the female is over-bearing with her possessiveness.

"I dont mean to restrict your freedom! But your weekends should always be spent with me, lest you meet someone new and stray......... I did that because I love you!!!"

To her, love means spending time together on every weekend and not to be spent with friends.
To him, it's just a selfish possession of another human being. And DISTRUST is dampening.
To him, love is giving him freedom and let him bond with his buddies.

This kind of relationships, wont last.

Of course this is just 1 example. Different people have difference preferences. Of course I will be happy when my hubby drenched me with expensive gifts, bought with his hard-earned money. But in comparison, I will rather he dont work so hard to buy those expensive bags, spends more time with me, brings me to nice dinners and movies. That will make me happier. But again, life is a harsh reality. How can he have the time and money to always bring me to nice dinners and movies UNLESS he works hard? Life needs to have a balance somewhere. Which means I also have to accept how he needs to spend some of his weekends working. Just so because we can have a great and romantic weekend-after, or awesome holidays months after.

Sometimes when we go shopping, I can take an interest in some un-branded bags or simply a Rilakkuma passport holder(instead of the LV one he bought me; which I returned to exchange for other stuff...=P), of which hubby will jokkingly comment, "Aiya you like this type huh, tell me mah. Can help me save so much money. Haha." Of which I replied with a smile. "The things I want generally costs little to nothing. But sometimes you just dont bother to remember doing it or to go about doing it." With which, his expression turned somber and decidedly tender.

I like him to kiss me on my cheek before he goes to work and when he returns home to me.
I like him to buy me my favorite custard buns or any of my favorite food as a surprise.
I like him to call me to see if I need any food whenever he's coming home to me.
I like him to understand me well, to know my likes and dislikes.
I like him to give me flowers.
I like him to make me laugh.
I like him to be astute enough to discover my change in mood/emotions and cheer me up.(This is super difficult for him, I know. Zzzz)
I like him to plan activities for some weekends so that I dont have to crack my brains every single weekend on where to go and what to eat.
I like him to show concern to my mummy.
I like him to spend time to play with Vickki or bring her for a walk.
I like him to accompany me go marketing at NTUC.
I like him to hold my hands or just an impromptu kiss or hug when we're on the escalator.
I like him to fetch me whenever he can.
I like him to do some necessary housework without being prompted; especially throwing the garbage.
I like him to give me the freedom to meet my dearest friends.
Last but not least, I like him to trust me even when I'm out late.

All these are my preferred ways of loving me. =)

Some people finds it so easy but some people finds it so difficult. How odd.

Haha. Sekali the way he prefers me to love him....is to...NOT DO ALL THIS. *Faints* LOL!
